I work out 2-5 times per week mostly at the Sycamore Sport location in Vista. I am mostly doing cardio and toning so far. If you'd like to chat, work out, swim or carpool, this is the place to meet up with like minded folks. See you in the gym!

Introduce yourself, share a story. I would like to have someone to motivate me when I just don't wanna walk into the gym. Sometimes just have a "Pal" say "give it 3 more, or, make it one more set" can increase results over 30%!!

ps- My profile picture is what am I using to keep me focused. It's 11x17 on my fridge! It makes me close the door often.

    Hi Jason! I'm Steph :)

started my weight loss journey years ago, and slowly but surely lost 35 pounds or so. got to a point where things just weren't moving the way i wanted them to, so i read 4 hour body and started on september 12th of this year. i've lost about 8 pounds in 2 months, which i'm very happy with as it was going much slower previously. still want to lose 15-20 more (hopefully by next summer).

would love to hear any thoughts/tips/etc you have in regards to slow carb dieting. what kind of meals do you eat?

Hi Steph! I am glad you posted as I have offered some of what I have learned and was immediately chastised and belittled and called a quack!

I am just starting with slow carb but it seems I have been eating like this a long time already for the most part. The best advice I have taken was to drink COLD water 1st thing in the AM before coffee and to eat within 30 mins. Beyond that, I am avoiding most white foods and at the least being very conscious of amounts of white food that goes in.

My diary is an open book, I'd welcome your comments! and yeah I know I need to cut out the beer! it's my Achilles heel!

once I banished cheese and sour cream/ sauces...and switched to fat free whole wheat tortillas instead of bread I have been happy with the results....although I suspect the tortillas are holding me back from even better results! baby stepping!

so far, I have a few friends but it seems they are not logging religiously or they are lying to themselves...so, that said, I'd like to invite you to hold me accountable anytime!

    K.I.T.

here's the thread we all post on: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/143401-the-4-hour-body-slow-carb-diet

that is actually the beginning of what ends up being 2 topics of 20 pages each, so there's a lot to sort through. if you want to get to where we're currently posting, it's here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/375167-the-4-hour-body-slow-carb-diet

i am pretty strict in utilizing the principles of 4HB. the only things i eat that are questionable are 10 calorie cups of sugar free jello when i just can't stand it anymore, cottage cheese (which most people believe is just fine if you don't eat too much) and spaghetti squash, which i've had back and forth responses about.

i was a huge beer drinker, which is why i was 60 pounds overweight at my heaviest. beer + fried stuff with ranch = my doom. now i'm drinking the 1-2 glasses of red wine at night that Tim mentions and saving beer for cheat days. i'm wondering if the wine is sabotaging me a bit - i was sick a couple weeks ago so i wasn't drinking it, and my weight seemed like it was going down way faster than normal. started drinking it again and went up 2 pounds. there are so many variables involved that it's hard to say.

    Hello!

I'm Candi. I'm now on my 7th week of the 4HB SCD. My first few weeks, I saw a pretty big weight loss but have slowed down a bit since then. Though I stick (pretty much) to the principles of what to eat. I still struggle a bit with when to eat and indulging on my free day was pretty difficult too. I'm getting better at it. Practice makes perfect right? Anyway, I do see more changes in my body than the scale would suggest which is a good thing. I know I'm going to be off course this week because of the Holiday. (I just pulled the first pans of croissants from the oven and ohmigosh do they smell sinfully decadent!) I don't work out much due to a nasty back injury. I'm pretty limited with what I can do. But I do walk and I found an exercise which works all the core muscles without involving the lumbar and hip flexor muscles. It's a pike roll out with an exercise ball. I tell you, do a few of those and you know you did something!

My love/hate relationship with my weight is because I love food. Not all foods, mind you, just good food. And I love to play in the kitchen. Unfortunately, my love of food wasn't balanced out with an equal amount of working out. I'm not an emotional eater. I'm just an eater. (Oh the shame of admitting it!) Anyway, Now that I've admitted I'm my worst enemy and biggest downfall in being more weight healthy, I'm taking steps to take control of it. (Isn't admitting it half the problem?)

Once I started eating the SCD way, I discovered I actually like eating that way. I still enjoy food but I am more aware of the consequences and not just focused on the instant gratification of deliciousness on the tastebuds. Life is a journey and an education right?
