For East Coast hikers, which do you prefer? Acadia in Maine or the White Mountains in New Hampshire?

I went to Acadia three years ago and it was amazing. I've never seen such blue skies or breathed in such crisp air! (I'm from Philadelphia, clean air anywhere is foreign to me haha) But it put me at such peace! It was beautiful! I've never been to the White Mountains, maybe someday..it isn't too far. But Maine is something that needs to be experienced if you haven't. It's my second favorite roadtrip behind Rocky Mountain NP in CO.
  • Acadia is amazing, but my home is the White Mountains, lot less tourists too.

Haven't hiked the White Mountains yet (but planning on it), have hiked Acadia and it is gorgeous along the coast! I was there during the summer season...beautiful, great temps, and some great rock climbing if you are into it.

My 2 cents is the whites. You've got hills and then real peaks above treeline. Of course I have not done Kahadin, (quite a drive) and the Whites are close for me to get to. If only they were more like Colorado or the alps.... Oh well.

I've never been to Acadia is it really a busy place? Like lots of tourists? The white mountains are bombastic I love em!
