If you have a facebook account do you ever consider closing your account? Have you ever closed your account?

nope, I have never considered closing my FB. I keep up with too many people through FB.0

I have an account. But for a while I didn't have home internet access and work servers block it... while that was going on they did their frickin' layout change or whatever the hell it was and now when I try to log in I feel like an old man on an answering machine. I'm yelling at it and not understanding what's going on...0

Same here. Way to many high school and military friends in different parts of the country and world to keep up with on the phone or with mail0 -

I deactivated it for a while, but I have too many people from overseas on there who I wouldn't have contact with, otherwise, so I reactivated.0

I have too many friends living in other countries along with family members so it's the best way for me to keep in touch with them. So, to answer your question, no.0

Nope, never... I'm quite attached to my facebook, actually... possibly a bit too attached.
Facebook was just becoming well-known among college students the year that I began college (back when it was open to college kids only!), so therefore my Facebook account really chronicles my entire college experience. If my account were to somehow disappear or be deleted, I'd be very sad...
I'm a sentimental person, and there's so much on there in pictures, messages, everything... I still have the chain of messages from when my husband and I first met, and became friends (real-life friends, that is, not JUST facebook... haha)... that sort of thing. Lots of memories are stored in my Facebook... I always kept a diary as a kid, and facebook sort-of replaced that for me.0 -
I like keeping up with my daughter who lives 900 miles away, my stepson at college and some other news and lifestyle sites. Quite frankly, I don't have that many "friends" and I would like to get rid of most of the ones I have--they're mostly family and they have become such *kitten* that it is more annoying than anything else reading their posts.
I do find it useful to post photos and stuff rather than emailing them to everyone.0 -

I think I love you.0 -
I would never close my Facebook account. it's where I keep in contact with far away friends and cousins. I have a cousin with young kids that I only see once a year if I'm lucky and somebody else I know has three young children that I almost never see so I always like being able to see pictures and keep in contact still.0

Never had much use for it, but now that all my girls are out of the house, it's how I see what's going on in theire lives.0

I was a Mafia Wars addict a few years back and was on facebook a LOT. I have since stopped gaming and have reduced my friends list on fb but still keep the account going. I do keep up with some out of town/state/country relatives on occasion with it. Mostly I post what interesting things that my kids are doing, what recipes I'm cooking up or what races I've completed.0

I had thought of closing mine once, but instead, I deleted over 200 "friends" to bring a little peace to my life instead. I couldn't cut it off completely because of the fact that I have relatives who live out of town and I see maybe once per year if I'm lucky. But, most of my time on there involves the same type of conversations as I have on here, debate. Not only that, but most of my "friends" do not agree at all with my perspective, so it's like and uphill battle there too.0

I am addicted to Facebook too, so much so that I deactivate my account while I am in school. I guarantee you I would not be able to complete all my studying for grad school if my account was active. Haha! That's why I take "breaks."
I reactivate December 16 after I turn in my last final for the semester and I CANNOT WAIT!!! :bigsmile:0 -
I deactivated mine in June....but if I get an iphone for xmas I may rejoin....but be far more selective with my friend requests. I miss it for far away relatives and pictures and such but it was just taking up too much brain power, I was missing out on things in my real life. I was too attentive, if I rejoin I will have to monitor my usage haha... 12 step it. lol0

I don't have Facebook, it creeps me the **** out!0

this is how i see things.
the people i have met and don't like are on my facebook friends list.
the people i have (mostly) never met and like tons are on my mfp list.
the best of both worlds make it to both lists.
i keep the fb account to give the illusion of staying in touch with the relatives i really don't like without giving out my contact info.0 -

I do not have a facebook account, although I did have a myspace account. I deactivated for a variety of reasons, mostly because my ex-husband kept trying to contact me.
Loooong ugly story on THAT.
My family keeps pestering me to start a facebook account....maybe one day.0 -
I almost did once, but ended up just blocking people who were causing drama.
I still don't like it as much as I used to, stupid changes. I miss the constant updates in the newsfeed, which is why I've mostly switched to Twitter now.0 -
I've got one and I've never considered deactivating it. It's how I keep up with my family, childhood and college friends, and I use it here at school. I moderate some clubs, so each club has it's own FB group. Much easier to communicate with our students through FB since they use it so much more.0

Has Facebook
I have like 30 friends...limited to family and CLOSE friends.
It does make it awkward when customers say, "I requested you on FB and you haven't accepted my request." :noway:0 -

I've never tried. I don't think I could deal with the rejection.0 -

If someone requests me that I don't want on my friends list but don't feel like dealing with the whole "I'm not accepting you on purpose" discussion, I lie and say that FB must be having problems because I just NEVER got that request!0 -
Video killed the radio star and Facebook killed conversation!
For the record I don't have a facebook, google+, twitter or any other social media account and I hope to never be forced or coerced into getting one.0 -
I have one and Ill keep it. Its put me back into contact with too many people. Since I also live away from my family, they can keep up with me and the kids' daily activities. Thats pretty much what I use it for. MFP has taken over my FB addiction though. :laugh:0

I have a personal facebook account and then one for my blog. I mostly use it to keep in touch with friends back east and as a socila media tool for my blog. I don't often post on it. Okay, I mostly play Sims....the truth always comes out in the end.0

Me too!
I have an account but I don't use it. I find it both boring and annoying.
Having said that, I suspect that if I lived on my own I would probably start playing with it and would learn to love it- but I'd rather not.0 -
I don't have Facebook. Mostly, I feel like the only person in the world who doesn't have an account, so it's nice to hear there are a few more of you out there....
Mainly I refuse to get an account because I see people with 400 "friends"... I mean, come on - do you really have 400 friends? No, these are people you've maybe met a couple of times and now add (or add you and you don't want to hurt their feelings!) to look more popular... I guess I could get an account and just add the 30 or so people I actually want to keep in touch with, like someone else has mentioned, but then - I can just keep in contact with them by Whatsapp or iMessage and avoid the hassle of people from years ago "adding me," so I don't see the point.
I got bullied at school, so I am keen to forget that part of my life. I guess it would be nice to be in more close contact with my family as they live in South Africa... But hey - on top of everything else - I am so obsessed with MFP that if I spent anymore time online I would have no time for a life!!!0
