I'm going to be starting Insanity soon and I have to do it on hard floor so I am definitely going to be wearing shoes lol, I have an ankle I rolled pretty bad a cpl months ago playing basketball in running shoes like an idiot, its still tender but im able to play basketball and all that again on it, what kind of shoes you think would be best for doing insanity in? im thinking basketball shoes because they support the ankle really good and they are made for supporting a lot of jumping, pivoting and running, similar to a of the alot of the movements you do insanity, cross country shoes seem ok but im thinkin basketball shoes would probably be the best, whats your thoughts?

I just wear my running shoes (they're designed for trail running so give lots of support)
I didn't really actively choose to wear them, they're just the shoes I have but I haven't had any issues with them while doing insanity,
I had some knee issues a few weeks ago but i think that was more bad form on my part then the fault of the shoes
Don't know if that helps you decision0 -
Basketball shoes does sound like the best support shoes. I work out out the carpet in barefoot or Vibram 5 fingers.
It helps me to land in the correct form. The feet are better to grip ground also so overall it would be good for my knees.
I take Will & Grace class in the healh club. It has lots of plyometric move and we do barefoot on the hardwood floor.0 -

YES I love my vibram five fingers!0 -
I'm a barefoot exerciser. I run in a Terra Plana, Nike Free, or Brooks Pure. I work out on cement and the only part that really probably needs padding is plyo. You will strengthen your feet and ankles barefoot.
I've had a friend tell me that she only will wear cross trainers not running shoes for these workouts.0 -
If your ankle is still tender, I wouldn't exercise until the pain goes away. I'm assuming you pulled a tendon, so wound healing is much slower due to little blood supply in that tissue. If your ankle is fully healed, then I would recommend purchasing the "adjustable ankle support" made by Ace bandage. It's basically a compression wrap that will help support your ankle, preventing/minimizing pain during exercise. This way, you can use any of your shoes that can sustain the many lateral and high impact moves in Insanity. Good luck!0
