I made it through W6D1 today. It was harder than W5D3 for some reason. Probably in my head because I'm getting closer to the end than I ever thought I would! :laugh:0
-
I have heard lots of people comment that it is harder to stop and restart a run than to just keep on going!0
-
Just finished week 6 day 3 today.
After this is all continuous running. Can't wait!0 -
what did you think of hte week 6 interval days? did it seem like it made day 3 better than week 5 day 3?0
-
gasp, gasp, ,,,,here I am, just finished week 5 day 3! Will be doing first day of week 6 on Friday. Have aerobics tomorrow night, weights the next day. Good luck everyone.0

Congrats!! It is funny how we run 20 and then go back to shorter, oh well....0 -
I also found week 6 day 1 a bit tougher but I *think* its partially related to me wanting to run the intervals faster because they're shorter and partially related to something at personal training yesterday that strained my hip a tiny bit, didn't notice it til half way in.0

Finished Week 6 Day 1 today. I also found it harder than the 20 min run. Has to be the staring and stopping. I am actually looking forward to the longer runs.0
-
Finished W6D1 I am so glad I am not the only one. I really found W6D1. Heres to day 20
-
Did get through W6D2 - just barely. Not sure if I'll get to Day 3 today - it's a pretty long run, right? I haven't even looked at the schedule... eek.0
-
yup its a 25. or 22?
anyway its a long one, I feel ok about it but I guess we'll see how If eel AFTEr.0 -
Yup - 25. Couldn't muster up the energy today so I did some circuit training with Jillian and I'll finish week 6 tomorrow - only a day behind. Then I'll decide if I feel ready to move on.0

Felt good about day 3 - as usual the first 5-10 minutes was hard and then it smoothes out. So I feel like next week will be ok - kept working on my stride and I felt like there was some improvement, and then the last 30 seconds I sprinted just to show that I could (haha)0
-
You show off tameko! Actually, I've done that too. Even after my run intervals end I sometimes keep going just because I feel like I can.
I finished W6D3 today and it wasn't that bad. Next week is a three-peat of today - all 25 minute runs! The end is in sight, but I have so much running to get to it... :laugh:0 -
I totally did -- I often want to run after my running is over - because you're warmed up, your muscles are loose, and you've got all that energy from exercising. Boyfriend never wnats to though, he just .... I dunno. Its like he followst he exact program and then he's done and wants to go home. Not an achiever, that one.0

Well finished day 2 today. It felt good. Looking forward to day 3. Having some sciatic pain, but doesn't bother me to run thank goodness. I see you guys are burning ahead.0

I'm starting week 6 today. I'm happy to finally have people on the same week as me!! This will be a difficult one considering I've been so tired lately and it's the last week before Christmas and I still have so much to do. Ugh!! Oh well, I can do this!!!0

Well, I *think* I completed W6D3... I ran (what was *supposed* to be) a 5K tonight and since my C25K session was supposed to be one 25 minute run, I decided to basically go for broke and run the whole thing if I could. I ran for the first 90 seconds, but then there was a substantial hill, and because I didn't warm up properly (I just could not start a race walking...), I let my breathing get out of control. So, I walked the next 90 seconds to 2 minutes (basically to the top of the hill) and then ran for the remaining time minus a 10 second stop to tie my shoe (extremely frustrating!!!).
I say the run was *supposed* to be a 5K, because it totally wasn't... I finished the race in 28 minutes and 32 seconds and knew there was no way in Hades I ran 3.2 miles in that short of a span of time, so I drove the course and clocked 2.8 miles. Then, when I got home, I used Google maps, which agreed - the course was only 2.8 miles.
I was a little disappointed that the course was so short, but I am ecstatically happy with my pace!! My first 5K was just under 40 minutes, which works out to 4.8 mph, and this time it was 6.0 mph. Considering I am only just completing the 6th week of the program, that's not too shabby!
Also, I say I *think* I completed W6D3 because with my shoe tying break, I didn't technically run the 22 minutes straight. It was a
90 second run, 2 minute walk, 12 minute run, 10 second stop, 13 minute run... I don't think I am going to stress about it too much anyway since W7D1 is not really that huge of a jump...0 -
Shydaisi> your post cracked me up. That is so something I would do. I get that anal about every second!! I've had to stop and tie my shoe before too and I always makes me angry because I feel like I "cheated". lol I totally get you. I think you are doing awesome!!!
I did day 1 yesterday. When I was looking at the intervals earlier in the day I was thinking - oh, that'll be easy. After finishing last week on a positive note with my 20 min run, I thought 5 mins here, 5 mins there would be a breeze. NOT SO!! Right from the get-go my calves were screaming and I was out of breath. So, I tried slowing down and even got to the point where I felt like I couldn't possibly go any slower and I was STILL struggling. I thought - oh, I just need to warm up some more and then everything will be cool. WRONG! The entire session was painful. I have no idea what went wrong. I'm just hoping the rest of the week will be better.0 -
I am glad you get me! I ran for 2 minutes before stopping going back and forth with myself on the pro's and con's of not tying my shoe...lol
I find that the intervals are harder than just a flat out run where I am focused on more on my distance than how much longer I have to run. Even W6D2 where it was two 10 minute runs was much harder on me, mentally, than the 20 minute run from W5D3 or even the 22 or 25 minute run (depends on the program) from W6D3.
Even the slightest thing out of wack can cause you to be off physically for a run...not eating enough, eating too much, not drinking enough, drinking too much, not enough sleep, not resting enough, etc. Hopefully your next one will go better.0 -
Tonight is my last night of intervals!!! I am going to try to drink lots of water today. Hopefully that will make a difference.
I'm trying to figure out how I am going to do day 3 this week. We are going to ND for Christmas to be with my husband's family. I thought we were leaving Fri afternoon and I was planning on doing my run in the morning. BUT as it turns out we are leaving really early in the morning. So, either I find a gym that's open on Christmas Eve or I run outside.... in North Dakota!! I am determined to get that run in so I can stay on schedule. I just do know how I'll do it just yet. Wish me luck!!!0 -
Hopefully you can get your run in outside! Is there snow on the ground there now? That would worry me more than the temp.0
-
So far no snow!! So, that is good. But, yes, I would worry too if there was snow.... knowing my luck I'd fall down and break a hip or something. :laugh:0
-
Ok, day 2 DONE! But it was a struggle. Not as bad as the first day. My legs felt just fine. This time it was just my breathing that I struggled with. It's weird because usually it's the other way around. Overall this week is kinda sucky for me.0
-
Ok, this week ended great. I was visiting family in North Dakota and I planned on doing my run out there. I usually don't run outside in the cold so I read up on what to wear. I went out and bought a shirt with material that will wick away moisture. I packed my hat and gloves and was all set.... or so I thought. I forgot my running shoes!!!! But that didn't stop me. On Christmas Eve, my husband and I made a quick trip to JCP and bought some. I was wanting another pair anyway.
There was alot more ice than I was expecting and I was not at all familiar with the neighborhood. I think that was an advantage. Between dodging ice patches and trying to decide which way to turn.. the run went by so fast. In fact, I have to say it was the easiest one so far.
BUT now I have a chest cold!!!0 -
Great job on the run!!!
I was not good this week... I haven't done a run since my "5K" last Monday! :blushing: Planning to get back to it today. I am going to just start running and go for as long as I can, hoping to complete the entire twenty-five minutes. Hopefully missing a week won't set me back to far...0
