Interesting article. It seems that the author may have brought some archaic baggage to it. The image of a tapestry lined love grotto of a demure monogamous woman has an appeal for her but I doubt that it matches much of reality. Her critique of modern pornography leaves out the crucial issue that it provides sexual scripting from a capitalist perspective. That is that most of what is being presented is done not from the perspective of art, sensuality or love and certainly not often from a woman's perspective but from the perspective of maximizing profits. Most aspects of the internet invite over indulgence, but I see it more of a cool drink after a long thirst. Sure the water is not as crystal clear and pristine as we might like but it is not thirst. Both men and women can be made to feel inadequate by the oddly proportioned starts of pornography but most of us, even men, are more drawn to emotional and personality traits of our partners.

I do kinda think porn turns us men off to the real thing. In the beginning of most relationships the sex can be on the porn level, but after awhile it can tapper off for one reason or another. Us men want a pornstar in the bed all the time but in reality after she comes home after a long day at work, being a pornstar is last on her list.

That surely depends on the female Lew... I know when I come home after a long day at work I need a quickie right away to take the stress of the day away, then be perky and ready to do my evening activities such as cooking dinner.
