Anyone want to start creating goals for ourselves?
I was thinking my next time drinking, I will just have 6 beers/drinks. That might sound a lot to some of you, but I can easily have 12 drinks in one day...even more

My birthday is on 5th January 2012 and thereafter my goal is to give up drinking wine for the rest of the month. I'm going to swap it for Gin and Slimline Tonic which is less fattening and I can only have a couple then i've had enough!0

double post - sorry!0

I am hoping come Jan 1st, since the diet/weight loss resolution is already taking place, no more drinking during the week!0

I can't do moderation, so Ive stopped totally as of yesterday. I spent most of 2010 with no alcohol, so I know I can do it. I also know I can't just have the one or two, so this is how it has to be for me. Doing ok so far, feeling strong :-)0

no more than 3...NO MATTER HOW LONG I AM OUT!!!!!0

My first mini-goal is to have nothing until NYE. Yes, I know that's only 3 nights until then, but it's a starting place. Will make a new goal starting the 1st!0

pretty much where I am at...
I am still currently drinking regularly until the new year. I am on a holiday break from work, so its especially hard right now to fight the battle with alcohol.0 -
I want to stop drinking once the new year starts.0
-
I am trying to limit myself during the week to only one glass of wine per night, or one liquor based drink if I have that.0
-
Hope everyone did ok over the weekend - I didn't have anything to drink (I didn't go out!) so I was good. Still feeling strong and now DH is off alcohol too. He has problems as well so this is massive for him but very good for me.

Nothing to drink on new years eve, cuz I had to work an overnight shift. But I'm happy with that. And now, today, I am officially starting my sobriety. Let's do this!0

Just curious, what are some things that have worked for everyone to help cut down or cut out alcohol use? Obviously, not having it in the house helps a lot. I'd love to hear what works for others.0

My first accomplishment was to stop drinking wine.
My goal as of today is to stop drinking during the week.0 -
I don't have a bit problem with beer. I like brandy sweet/sour. This sounds kinda funny but I "hide" the bottle from where I normally keep it. Usually down the basement!!! I know it's there but out of sight out of mind theory. :happy:0

I sometimes hide my drinking.....like I love to drink alone because I wont have anyone watching me....its bad0

Not so strong tonight....0

Having a little trouble getting motivated with this myself...0

Totally fell off the wagon last night had waay too much to drink then at about midnight when I went to bed my daughter woke up and fell over on her way to the bathroom. She dislocated her thumb and we had to go to hospital to get it put back into place. I ended up with no sleep and really hung over today when my daughter really needed her mum to be there for her.
I feel awful.
Hope everyone else is doing better.0 -
Happy Birthday!!! :drinker: (My 50th was yesterday. :noway:
I haven't had any wine since halloween of 2011. I am to the point I don't really miss it any more and have even turned it down when offered some. I did have brandy old fashions but noticed over the holidays how much weight it added, I haven't has any of that either. Not even 1 drink for my birthday!!!
I really want to lose weight and I know I have more problems with calories from drinking than I do food. That's bad!
Good luck....if I can do it (being from Wisconsin) you can too!! :flowerforyou:0 -

I'm right there with you... I know it is a problem, I've decided that my extra weight has a ton to do with the drinking and not feeling well enough to get off of the couch to work out. I don't drink much during the week, but holy weekend hell!0 -
I have realized that the wine (or sometimes vodka) is also a problem for me. I live alone so hiding it is not an issue for me. I start every day with the best of intentions but then I find myself opening a bottle of wine at night. I think I would probably not have issues with my weight if I didn't drink. I don't usually drink to the point of drunkeness but I've not found anything else that relaxes me in the same way.0

I feel all of you and I am right there with you. I was doing really good all week. Friday & Saturday, I decided to have some mix drinks.....H O L Y S H U Z B U T!!!!! I was waaaaayyyyyyy over my calories and according to what "I will weigh in 5 weeks".....more than what I weigh now!! Not that I will drink like this everyday but WOW!!!! I do agree with some of you that my drinking is what is making me fat! It just REALLY SUCKS that something so fun can be sooooooo damaging.0

This broke my heart when i read it. Dont be so hard on yourself. We all fall down and take a few steps back. Something that keeps my drinking in check is my kids. If something happened to one of mine, would in be in any condition to deal with it? Could i drive them to the hospital? You need to find your motivation. For an example, I smoked for about 25 years & made a few unsuccessful attempts to quit. It was one of my kids asking me to stop that finally did it for me. Four years later I still dont smoke because disappointing either of my kids is not an option for me, period. It works the same with alcohol. Let them be your reason to quit. Get some support. Find someone to hold you accountable if you are serious about stopping. You can do this. I cant wait to hear how you are doing!0
