Oh this is a fun question. One that has been a heated topic for many CrossFit gyms. I came from CrossFit Tuscaloosa where I was the "single girl" - as in my bf does not CrossFit, and everyone else at the gym is paired off with someone else at the gym. Surprise surprise I realize that it is very much the same at my current gym. I have tried to get him into CF, but that has not worked since he's already professional ironman. He does what he gets paid to do, so I don't push. But he definitely pushes me to do well at CF and at competitions b/c he knows it makes me happy. And he's super competitive and what's bragging rights of his gf doing well.0

I just recently got my husband to try it out. He is a marathoner and is trying to get his marathon time under 3:00. I encouraged him to try it because I've heard so many success stories of runners getting faster through crossfit (myself included - I've cut off SO much time from my races with not much running!).
We don't usually "work out" together because obviously he's a little stronger than I... but I've been doing it longer than him, so I'm generally a lot more comfortable with the lifts and movements than he is. It's taken a while for him to warm up to it, but I think he'll see the benefits from it soon.
I like to be competetive, but we have very different fitness goals (I want to run a marathon, but I'm more into getting stronger overall). I'm just glad he's there0 -
we don't actually do the workout together because our schedules are very different but we compare notes and try to beat eachother's times. i have to say that mine are usually better
our 19 year old son is beasting these workouts and is getting much bigger in just a short period of time, he leaves for army basic training in just a few weeks and he isn't going to have any trouble with PT!

Indirectly he does - although he will never actually come do a WOD at the box with me.
We've hired my CF coach to come to our place and train us - so she will always incorporate a WOD in, even if it's heavily modified. More recently he's been asking me to tell him what to do in our home gym (and I'll always incorporate some kind of tabata element). DH is more of a team sports guy, so the individual aspect of lifting doesn't appeal to him, even thoughI explain to him that CF is very much a 'team" effort. Of course his second criteria is that it must involve a ball and stick (hockey, baseball or golf). I ask him how he thinks hockey pros and baseball athletes get so fit?0 -
The owner of my box posted this and since it is on the same topic I thought I'd post

No, my husband is not interested in trying out crossfit, and I respect that. I still haven't stopped going to the bodybuilding gym we joined together, and he thinks I'm mad to start crossfit. I've been doing it for about 2 months, and he sees how much I enjoy it, but still not interested in trying it at all.0
