Hi All :-)
So I read on one of the low carb start up blogs that you dont have to reduce your calorie intake as long as you keep your carb intake low. Do you find this to be true or false? The past two weeks Ive been maintaing anywhere from 30-90 carbs a day and also limit my diet to 1200 calories just wondering your findings/opinions on this
thanks

I still limit my calories, because I have found that I won't lose weight if I don't. That said, limiting my calories has not been a real problem for me at all on my low-carb diet. I don't get hungry like I used to.0

I find it very easy to stay under my calorie goal while eating low carb.. As long as your eating real foods and not processed meals, you should find it easy to stay within your calorie goal.0

what they said! and that being said, 1200 calories a day seems extremely low, especially for someone who is nursing, and only has 40npounds to lose. Did that goal come from a doctor? if so, no prob. If not, you might want to reassess.0

I think you dont have to watch calories when you first begin atkins(or low carb) but after a while your body will adjust and you will eventually wanna start lowering calories or changing something up to be able to continue losing weight. or at least this has been my experience:) very good luck

:blushing: My son is already three lol so im not nursing anymore, I have not been since he was 1 so my goal didnt come from a doctor it came from MFP and to be honest some days I find it hard to even feel hungry enough to get in 1200 cals a day unless im drink alcohol than its easy :laugh:0 -
Im actually doctor-ordered to consume 1600 calories per day, but nothing less than 1200 calories. No more than 120g of carbohydrates per day that also includes a food-elimination list...
There are days I can barely get in 1100 calories and 65g of carbs... of which was cleared for me by my Endo with all of my medical situations.
The best bet is to run this by your PCP or specialist to see if perhaps your individual situation should require a restriction or limit...0 -
I'm like some of the others that posted......I watch my calories and try to keep them at or around 1200-1300 a day.Like the others again,I'm finding it very easy to stay within that range eating low carb.0

I HAVE to limit calories in addition to carbs. If I don't I don't lose weight. I'm staying under 1200 - actually under 1100. Been on Atkins for 11 days and have lost 6 lbs - 5 of that in the first few days. After another week or so I will slowly start raising both, but calories count for me. But as others have said, it's not so hard with low-carb. I don't think I ever could have limited myself to 1100 calories with a "regular" diet.1
