For those doing Chalean Extreme still wanting to lose weight...if you can't build muscle on a deficit then what are your calories and settings set to? Maintenance? You can still tone muscles on a deficit, right? I still want to lose a little more weight but tone up as well. Will this work? Can I still be managing around 1300 calories to lose and tone? I am not looking to BUILD muscle yet, just tone up what I DO have...Sorry, just confused:huh: ...

I don't know. I've only done a couple ChaLean workouts (I had to take the DVDs back to the library today). Every time I did one, I was more hungry than usual the next day. I don't count calories, and I do give in to hunger pangs.

I have my calories settings at 1200 daily, which works out at a 1 1/2lb loss. I use these calories to eat a high amount of protein, veg, and low fat diary. I then eat back all the calories I burn in exercise, and occasionally go over my limit a little if I feel 1200 is too harsh - knowing I'll still lose about a pound. I usually burn 200-300 on a CXT workout, or if I do a normal cardio session its 500.

I really don't understand the science behind muscle building - but I can see the logic in not being able to build muscle on a deficit. I think you are right though, what you can do is strengthen/tone whats already there and make it look better!

In the past 2 months, I suppose I have built some muscle, but more so, I have lost fat. My body in general is more lean tho I have only lost about 4lbs

My calories are set at 1500/day (1lb/week loss), but I've just started CLX so I'll see how that goes...
