I just started the Ideal Protein Diet and have had a few ups and downs.......
The first day of the diet was harsh, I was ready to write my will. But, after the next few days I started to feel better and gain more energy and start to be less hungry. I did everything the plan told me to do and went in for my first weigh in a week later. I gained 2 lbs! What? That can't be right! The scale must be off! I was then measured and lost 3 inches off my hips, 2 inches of back fat was gone and lots of other inches lost all over. The scale was wrong. I went home and weighed myself again. I lost 3.8lbs!! On to week two! I've been following the program and feel that I have lost more inches and lbs.....we shall see!? Tuesday is my next weigh in! Wish me luck!

Thanks for starting a group for IP!
I started in September. First couple of weeks are the worst. Gets easier though. I've lost over 30 lbs so far. Haven't weighed in since before X-mas.0 -
30 lbs? Wow! That's Awesome! Are you still doing the diet, or are you on maintenance now?0
-
I started the diet in late September and have lost 35.5 pounds. I am still on Phase 1, as I want an even number (40). 4.5 stinking pounds left!!! I have been stuck with those last pounds for 3 weeks now, mainly because of the holidays and my slipping willpower. I did great the first 2.5 months and I am ready to get back on track now that the worst of the temptation is over. I am glad MFP has ideal protein food to log in, and I am ready to move on to phase 2 with the start of the new year.0
-
I still have another 40 - 50 lbs to go
X-mas was the worst week. Probably the Red Velvet Cheesecake and sweet potatoes! LOL
Oh well, I'm back at it. I think I've lost about 6 lbs since then.0 -
I had lost over 70lbs about 2 years ago and then got away from it. I've gained 25lbs. Last week my Dr. diagnosed me with PCOS. and was given a medication to help with Insulin Resistance. What a wake-up call. So I am recommitting to getting back on the Ideal Protein diet, it is great for people with PCOS to be on since the premise is to have low or no sugar. I felt so good being on the diet. The first 3 days are the hardest for me. Time to clean out the pantry and remove the junk food. Glad to see this group started. Oh! by the way there is a great support group called 3fatchicks.com. You can find people that make meals from the Ideal Protein packets.0

To anyone that wants to add a workout to their diet, check out the January Biggest Loser challenge in the forum. It's a great, tough workout that can easily done after the first month of being on Ideal Protein. We are on day 3, but you should be able to join, or at least follow along! Good luck everyone! I have my weigh in tomorrow and I'm hoping to hit my goal weight and then keep toning up. I'm nervous and excited. Wish me luck!0

Sounds great! I have a couple more weeks, then I'll start on my exercises more consistently. Got weighed today! 6.7lbs lost in 2 weeks! Yay! On to week 3! Good Luck everyone!0

Before you jump into exercise on IP talk with your coach/doc too. First month they really don't want you working out, and after that still keeping it toned down. Having lost 73# on IP the exercise restrictions bothered me, but now that I'm phasing off and had the results I wanted I can't complain with the protocol of the diet either.
Good luck an congrats!0 -
My Dr. told me to cut my normal exercise in half.....but I think I might wait until I have a little more energy and feel up to it. Congrats on your weight loss! That's awesome!0
-
I joined IP too and lost 12 lbs in 10 days. Typical of what the coach says and I feel way more energetic. Plus I feel i have smaller appetite now. Do you have these kind of results too?0
-
where are the IP recipes?0

Hi Fellow IPers!!
So happy to find you!! I started Ideal Protein on October 28 and lost 20 lbs before I decided (against my coach's advice) to take the holidays off so I ate tamales and Christmas cookies for 3 weeks and gained 7 1/2 lbs back. That was a rude awakening as to how many unused calories I consumed! But, I have been back on IP since Tuesday and I have dropped 5 lbs. So glad!! I am in LOVE with this program! I have 25 more pounds to lose before I get to another phase. My coach has you do Phase 1 all the way to your goal and then go to Phase 2.
I think the hardest part is that afternoon time when I was used to having a snack. I also don't sleep great (9 month old twins and a early rising 3 year old) so I find on days where I have had less sleep, I really want carbs. But I don't do it!! I "cheat" with a cup of black tea with a splenda. I have to sell myself pretty hard that it is a treat but the weight loss is worth it!
Congrats on your success so far! Can't wait to see more!0 -
Darn those CARBS!! I'm so glad your back in the swing of things! You can do it!
My secret cheat.......1 TB Fat Free Cream Cheese + packet of Splenda = Cream Cheese Frosting......well close. ;o)0 -
Hi All,
I joined IP last friday and have lost 7.3 lbs according to my home scale, as of this morning, i know most of it is water weight, but i'll take it I'll be honest, yesterday and today, i have been having headaches and hunger pains, but i just make sure i keep busy and get through to my 'feeding window'. I will say i have done a similair diet before, where i lost over 80 lbs, but got so discouraged by drinking shakes and low carbs, that i got off and kinda maintained that weight loss for a year swinging between the same 20 lbs over and over.
I am trying IP with a fresh mind set and any type of group support would be cool0 -
The headaches are carb withdrawal or caffeine, either way increase your salt intake. What worked for me, as recommended by some on 3fatchicks was to lick sale like you would for a shot of Tequila, just lick sprinkle some of your sea salt and lick a couple of times a day. I had headaches for about 10 days, but mine was due to an immediate cease of all diet sods, and the carb headache. After 10 days I was good to go. Good luck!0
-
I only had the headaches for a day or two. The salt really worked for me, within a few minutes I was feeling much better!0
-
Made it through day one. 2 more to go. I hate the first 3 day's, but I know I will feel better and have more energy.0
-
Did my weigh in today!! 7 lbs!! SWEET!!!! I know next week won't be this way because this was my first week back after grazing my way through the land of sugarland fairies. I have to say that this week was pretty hard but it was WORTH it!!
Only have 2 pairs of pants that fit without falling off and I am pretty happy about that though I look pretty frumpy out there!
What days are your weigh ins? Mine is Monday but I would love to look forward to yours too!
Great tip about the salt. I had forgotten that and added more caffeine. Now I am passed it though.0 -
That's awesome! I weigh in at my doctors office on Tuesdays. But I weigh myself every other day......I just can't wait a whole week! LOL0
-
I'm on phase 4 now so I will be visiting the my docs office/clinic once a month from this point forward. I had been weighting in on Tuesday's Phase 1-3 but during that time I only got on the scale on Sunday and Tuesday, now I get on daily just to track my patterns day to day. I do miss the Tuesday routine though, and got to know the two coaches at the clinic and enjoyed our conversations.
Good luck to everyone staying on OP 100% can be done, it's just up to you to make it happen.0 -
I am .5 lbs away from starting Phase 2. I am really excited, but I can feel my resolve slipping. Does anyone have any "free" or close to zero calorie treats that they can share that can help me get through the "need" for something to eat (even when I just had a meal)? I know the want for food is all in my head, but maybe there is something out there I can snack on that will help satisfy it.
Thanks!0 -
Congrats on being so close!! You have done great!! I don't have any ideas on anything GOOD to eat that is no calorie. My fix is a cup of black tea and I pretend like it is a latte. It takes a lot of imagination. I also use a half a piece of sugarless gum. Lame I know. Again, great job! You are a great success!0

I weigh in every Monday, besides getting on the scale every morning. I too can't wait till weigh in at the clinic. I found my favorite IP bar, cookies and cream. MMMMM I realized that most of last week I left out my olive oil. No wonder I was at around 500 calories a day. I also had a terrible head ache and was told to put some salt in my water. Soon after I drank my water it was gone. I guess I have been short on my salt. I'm hoping to loose at the minimum 5lbs a week and soon will be walking on the treadmill. Good luck to everyone this week.0
