I'm super organized so I'm panicking that I can't set my schedule through June right now, haha. So far I only have the New Orleans Rock & Roll Half on March 4th (for American Cancer Society DetermiNATION).

Right now I have the following planned -

Febuary - Long John Jaunt half marathon
    April - fitness competition.
May - Cabot Trail Relay race (don't have leg picked yet, most are between 15-21 k). I also have a registration for the Halifax half marathon in May from last year. I rolled it over because I didn't want to run a HM then the relay the next weekend, but it looks like they are a week apart again. I may run the 10k instead of the HM for that.
July - no date set, usually around the first weekend, Ingonish sprint tri (it was my first race ever and I will return every year I can).
There are two other local tris that I will be doing, not sure if I will bump up to olympic or not. Dates aren't set yet but I know one is in August.

And a pile of local 5 - 10 k races. I don't think we have set our races schedule yet, but there is usually one or two a month. I go to whatever ones my work schedule allows. I will book time off for the above noted races.

That is ultra-organized, I LOVE it! I also love that you gave each race a priority. Good idea!

I plan on doing everything on the A, B, and C lists. But realistically, only the A race matters.

    "B" Races
    UBC Olympic Triathlon - March 11 (<2:45)
    Oliver Half Ironman - June 3 (<5:45)
    Desert Half Ironman - July 8 (<6h)

    "C" Races
    Resolution Run 5km - January 1 (<22:30)
    Vancouver Sun Run 10km - April 15 (<48)

    "May do" Races
    Fort Langley Half Marathon 21.1km - February 18 (<1:50)
    Vancouver Olympic Triathlon - September 3 (<2:30)
    Victoria Marathon - October 7 (<3:50)

Just finishing up this season with my first 70.3 this weekend, HITS Palm Springs 70.3, so I've been putting off putting my 2012 schedule together. So far this is what it looks like and nothing is really set in stone except a few local races that I did this year that I want to do again to PR next year.

Feb 5: Surf City 1/2 Marathon
March 18: SuperSeal Triathlon Olympic Course
April 15: HITS Triathlon Series: Napa Valley - Half Iron Course (Depending on how Palm Springs is organized and ran)
    May 6: OC 1/2 Marathon
May 20: Orange County International Triathlon
Sept 9: Pacific Coast Sprint Triathlon
Dec 2: HITS National Championship: Palm Springs - Half Iron Course (Depending on how Palm Springs is organized and ran)

    TBA:
    Long Beach Triathlon
    Newport Beach Triathlon
    Los Angeles Triathlon
    Long Beach 1/2 Marathon

And if I get in through the lottery:
    June 10: Escape from Alcatraz

Good luck with your race! I ran my first 70.3 this year and it was tuff but I had a blast.

With races opening up for next year, what does your race schedule look like next year?

What are yours? Staying with HIM's? Pretty addictive, aren't they?

I toggle back and forth: "Epic" season then "fun" season. Repeat ad infinitum. 2011 was "Epic". Savageman 100. My God, what was I thinking? So 2012 is all fun stuff. Nothing on the docket, and races probably won't be added till a month or two before. I may throw in a local HIM, but nothing to really spend the next 10 months pursuing.

It sounds boring, but it's actually nice to be able to float through a season, just enjoying it as I go. It keeps the burnout in check.

Yeesh... I actually plotted my race schedule for 2012 on a calendar and realized it doesn't leave a lot of actual training/recovery time. I may have to pass on a few of the ones I wanted to do for this year just because I really want to focus on building a much larger base to work off of for 2013 when I get the balls to do a full IM.

I'm committed to the New York City Triathlon on July 8, 2012. My first Olympic distance!

Is it bad that I am already starting to hope it doesn't rain that day?

This will be my first triathlon! Can't wait!

March 17: Lucky Run (7 miles) (this will be the longest I've ever run and a challenge as I don't consider myself a "runner")
June 2: Tri for Fun (sprint)
June 24: Livestrong Ride, Davis (assuming I'll do the 45 mile ride, but they haven't released courses yet)
July 29: Goleta Beach Tri (Olympic)

Hubby is doing the Vineman 70.3 July 15, so I'll be up there to support him!

New to the group -- hola, everyone!

I'm brand spanking new to triathlons this year. When I say "new" I mean that I haven't even tried running in 20 years and I've just started to take lessons to learn to swim. Doing a tri was on my "Goals for 2013" list until a friend signed up for a half-sprint tri and said, "Come on, you know you want to!" It's a teeny, tiny tri, but given that I'm learning two of the three components from the ground up, I'm okay with that (for this year).

I'm primarily a distance cyclist. Back in December I planned out my rides for 2012 without a thought to a triathlon. My biggest challenge in 2012 -quite frankly, my biggest athletic challenge ever- will definitely be the GranFondo Whistler in September. Just last week I registered for the 5K in March so that I could have a running goal. If I can make 5K by March running the entire event, then I should be able to do a decent 1.5 mile run by June.

    March 11, 2012: Shamrocks & Shenanigans 5K Run
May 5, 2012: Bike Ypsi Spring Ride & Festival (33 miles)
    June 9, 2012: Michigan Mountain Mayhem (100km)
June 24, 2012: Tri Goddess Tri (.25 mile swim, 10.7 mile bike, 1.5 mile run)
July 14, 2012: One Helluva Ride (100 miles)
Sept. 8, 2012: GranFondo Whistler (75.8 extremely hilly miles -- the big one!)
Sept. 15, 2012: Tour de Troit (25 miles)
Sept. 16, 2012: Taco Tour Cinco (15 miles) mmmm taco tour
Sept. 30, 2012: Apple Cider Century (100 miles)
Oct. 14, 2012: Tour de Livingston (62 miles)
Nov. 16, 2012: Silver Bells Electric Light Parade, (2 miles) Cyclists wear lights and form a living "float" in the parade - sweet!

If I find a Sprint tri in the Fall after my big Whistler ride, I may do that. My goal for 2013 will be an Olympic distance tri.

I have 3 races scheduled so far. The Hy-Vee 5150 is my goal race for the year. I want to finish in the top 10 of my age group. I am hoping to add another Olympic distance or a 70.3 at the end of the year.

4-28 Drake on the roads 1/2 marathon
5-19 Penny's Pieathlon / Sprint - yes they serve pie to all finishers
    6-24 Copper Creek / Sprint
    9-2 Hy-Vee 5150
