The Basics (which will stay the same for the next few weeks!)

Our second challenge runs from January 14th – January 20th.
Captains xls must be updated by 12pm Est on January 21st . As a captain, you can update the xls starting that Friday, January 20th, anytime after 12pm Est. (yes I did change the time, I am giving you a full day to get this done now. Please email me as well on MFP that you have finished updating your teams XLS tab.)

Immunuity
On each team, the person with the highest % of weight loss has IMMUNITY. (until I we are down to a smaller group)
Each team will have a chance for Immunity as well, this will be the team with the highest % of weight loss (until I we are down to a smaller group).

Eliminations
Eliminations will be based on the lowest % of weight loss for that weigh in. The two teams with the lowest amount will have two people up for Elimination. Each of those two people will email me (subject must say the week, team... example Week 1, Bluesers) and then in the body, you will tell me what you did for the week and why you should say. I will decide which one from each team stays, and we will move the other two people into the "At Home Prize" Category.
Eliminations will change up a bit, as we dwindle to the end. I will keep you updated on that as well.

Once each team gets their first week challenge pictures to me, I will post the 1st challenge info. I know everyone is curious. I will do this every week as well. After the first week, we will have "highlighted" info, such as the team with the highest %, etc.

Here is the link again, in case you want to watch what happens each week or check your info. (I will update the main team tab once all of the weights have been updated on each tabs xls.)

Burpee – Immunity Winners – Soccer8 and TheAnon
Burpee 1lb Advantage Winners – Cantjustcant, Fitnoflab, and Sigs

Eliminations: As of right now, no one will be eliminated. This is only because we have had numerous people drop out of the last two weeks, so everyone else that reported their weight to the captain will be safe this week. Those who do not, will be moved to the “At Home Challenger”

TEAM CHALLENGE!!

Our second team challenge is.... SIDE PLANKS! You dont know what a Side Plank is? Here is an explanation.
1.Begin by laying on your side (on the floor)
2.Position your elbow on the floor, below your shoulder.
3.Lift up on your elbow and keep your body stiff, from head to toe.
4.Hold this for 10 seconds, then lower your hip to the floor.
5.Then do this three times.
6.Switch to the other side, repeat the above.
http://sportsmedicine.about.com/od/strengthtraining/qt/Side_Plank.htm
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqzrb67Dwf8&noredirect=1 ← You can watch someone do it. She says you can keep your hand on the floor, but I am not permitting this. You will have your one elbow on the mat but the other hand can be on your hip, behind your head or up straight in the air.

Each 10 second side plank counts as one.

Just do the best you can. I am not going to tell you how many to do, but I will throw in an iccentive, the person that does the most side planks, must email me by the 20th. In the subject, you will tell me how many side planks you did for the week. This person will have Immunity. The person with the second most side planks will have a 1lb advantage. Sound good?

Also, I will be doing another Cooking Challenge for week 2. It will run January 20th – Jan 25th 8pm. I need the pictures emailed either on MFP or biggest.loser.12@gmail.com. I will be judging on healthiness, calorie amount and presentation. You must send me a picture of link of the recipe you find online/book. I need a picture of you cooking it (I know some of you are single, so write your name on a piece of paper or something and take a picture of that with your food cooking) and then a picture of the final product. The new requirment this week is you must have two different color vegetables in this meal. (IE, Carrots and Spinach together would work because they are different colors.. lol) Any other questions, please feel free to email me. ONE more thing, after you submit your picture to me, please post just your recipe on the recipe thread in the group so we can share with everyone.

Now onto the different team challenges. I am not going to give a detailed challenge of each teams challenge. I could be here all day for that. I am just going to show the picture the captain submitted.

quick question!!! On physical challenge you talked about side planks and then said immunity and advantages were given for burpees right after it...is this a copy and paste and missed changing words? or are burpees still on the table?
  • Ooopsies, I thought I fixed them all.
I created a new one at work the other day but forgot to email it home, so I used the 1st wks one to do this one and apparently I missed fixing that!
    Thanks!

Kinda excited for this challenge!! I CAN do a regular plank (a discovery I made a few months ago, and something I haven't been able to do since HS!) So looking forward to seeing how I fare on the side planks :)

THANK YOU for all the work you have put in, you are a rock star!!!!

Did you know that side blanks are not only good for your oblique abdominal muscle but it also builds strength and endurance in the core? This will help keep your lower back protected and stable during activities that require movement in the hips or back.

I asked about peppers and tomatoes, and the answer was yes. So my guess would be that the onions would be ok, as well :)
