What type of training schedule are you guys following? I've seen so many different ones out there. The main differences are the top millage and the taper week/s. Not sure what will work best for me.

My first half. I am going to use Hal Higdon. I previously used Jeff Galloway iPhone App for 10K training.

I use Runner's World Smartcoach. I use the app on my iPhone, but you can access it online for free as well. It only takes you up to 12 miles (for moderate training) but it worked brilliantly for my first 10k, my first half, and again now for my second half. Literally told me how fast I would run my race and was spot on!!!! I run 3-4 days a week... I can't get into the crazy 6-7 day runs like some can... but that's just me.
  • I just checked out the Runner's World Smartcoach. I think it will be a good tool to figure out what type of pace I should be running and how to do some speedwork.

I'm using Runner's World Smartcoach as well and so far so good! I do like having the suggested pace times and it's neat to see how that corresponds to my HR as well...

I'm using Hal Higdon's Novice 1. I used this for my first and only Half three years ago as well. I like that he also has good information along with it to explain what you should be doing each day and why. www.halhigdon.com

I'm going with Hal also! I didn't formally train for my 1st half (Oct. 2011) and i finished in under 3 hours so I'm excited to actually train for my next one (in mid May) and see how much better i feel during and after and see how my time improves!! Good luck everyone!

I'm using Runner's world smartcoach, too...though I've been altering the schedule (meaning: days off) to accommodate weather. Also, the recommended paces seem to be a bit too slow, maybe :30 or so per mile. I'm probably going to taper the last week a bit more than it recommends, too.
