I want one! I finally saw them at Academy. Thanks for the links - will check them out. I am trying to get rid of a thick lower belly and have heard hooping is effective.

It truly is a lot of fun. I never got the hang of hooping when I was a kid, but starting out with a weighted hoop does help. I can actually use a not weighted one now, but it takes practice. I find it very fun =) I often stand in front of the TV or stream some music an just go. Plus, with my current knee situation, it still allows me to get cardio =) Let me know if you need any advice.

I'll post links to videos this week too =)

Congrats on the inch loss =) It is a lot of fun and very addictive!
  • What a fun way to exercise. I'm really not into the extreme workouts - shred, etc.

Hello, I am on line looking to buy a hoop. What do you suggest. I am new to hooping but in fairly good shape. Also how much should I expect to pay?

My daughter has been hooping for about a year starting with a "toy" version and moved up to making her own weighted one. Her college roommate made several and decorated them and then sold them for over $100 each! My daughter did not spend much on supplies so I will have her make one for me and/or teach me how. I tried to use her hoop- thinking it would be like riding a bike...wrong... Now that my gym started hoop classes, I'd really like to learn. Any suggestions?

Hoopnotica sold hoops at CVS at one point. It was a travel hoop with dvd. Great hoop but mine is starting get beat up from trying to learn new tricks. Prices usually range from 25-35. Also, check etsy. Happy hooping!!

I can list a bunch of reputable websites tomorrow (it's bedtime here in Sweden). You can make yourself one very easy, but making it actually weighted can be tricky. I can post the tutorial links tomorrow, as well. I made a few large hoops without added weight and I find it makes me work harder and that's a good thing :)
  • It is the best way to get exercise. There is not a single minute when I am with my hoop that I am not completely enjoying it. I would die without my hula hoop!
  • If anyone is close to me, I make the weighted beginner hoops as well as advanced hoops. I live in Boise, ID. Prices depend on what you'd like, for a beginner weighted hoop with as many colors as youd like, I'd only charge 15.00.

I sell them cheap because I know how much of an impact they will make on your lives and being able to spread the joy of hooping really is all that matters to me. :)

Wow, you are awesome to sell them for that price :) there truly is no need for some people to dish out big bucks, that's for sure. I'll create a separate discussion where you and others who make hoops can offer your wares :)

My daughter corrected me that her roommate did NOT sell her hoops for very much $ and the only expensive hoop was one that had multi-color motion lights and other "fancy" decorations.

I re-learned to hoop using weighted hoops at my gym. They were easier, but I found painful on hip bones and not as aerobic. My daughter made me an wider hoop and that was the magic formula for me. I love it!
