Hi all!
I stumbled upon marksdailyapple.com about a week ago and bought the primal blueprint kindle book a day later. I read through it pretty quickly and am now on day 2 of really following it. I'm excited!
I thought I had always been a healthy eater by conventional wisdom of course. I was eating 1 gram of protein per lb. of lean body weight, moderate fat and only a little of the processed grains. I've also been on and off of heavy strength training an average of 4 days/ wk for about 2 years now. Sadly, in all that time, I lost body fat% but stayed pretty much the same weight. I've had a really hard time sleeping for 2+ years now and had gotten myself into the habit of taking nyquil pretty much every night to sleep. On top of that, I haven't had what seems like good, healthy digestion in a very long time. I have SOMEHOW gained about 8 lbs. over the course of a month and a half recently and with feeling this crappy, I was looking for something to help. I was searching for fat loss ideas when I stumbled on marksdailyapple.
Being even on day 2 of this lifestyle has already seen improvement. I have a ridiculous amount of energy and my mood has really improved. A few days before I started this lifestyle I decided to stop taking anything to help me with sleeping and I've also recently quit smoking. I'm really hoping this will have a significant impact on my sleeping and I'd love to lose about 40 lbs. of fat.
I decided to continue to count my calories and macros. I'm set at 1700 calories, 85g carbs, 128g. protein and 95 g. fats. To be honest though, I'm having a hard time getting enough fat in it seems like. So if anyone out there decides to take a look at my food diary over the last 2 days and can provide input as to where I can add fat, I'd appreciate it.
Anyway, I just wanted to say hi. I hope I'll feel more partnership with this group than I have with others in the past.

Welcome! There's another Group - "(something "Primal) Tips from the Cave" that I also follow along with.
Your diary is actually marked as "Private", so if you'd like to friend me so I can look I'd be more than happy to do that (then you can look at my diary too).
A few suggestions for adding fat - We use coconut oil or extra virgin olive oil to cook with, or even a little bit or "real" grass-fed butter.
Also, nuts/seeds are great - they're high in good fat!
And since we live near some AWESOME Amish grass-fed dairy farms, I have about 1-2 oz of yummy grass-fed/organic cheese a day that tastes DELICIOUS (and of course has fat!).
Glad to hear your energy/mood has improved - it's unbelievable, isn't it?
Great job, welcome, and stick with it!

There's a book by Robb Wolf that touches on your sleep and digestive problems and the whole Paleo nutrition. After reading his book I have changed my diet, on day 11 now, and want to change my whole household as well. Good luck!0
