Starting Primal today - after attending seminar

Last night I attended the primal blueprint seminar in Seattle with Brad Kearns.

I have been eating "my understanding" of Paleo for 1 month (and lost 10 lbs easy). I'm interested to see what following Primal fitness does for me rather than my current approach to burning sugars.

Take aways:
I'm so glad I shouldn't feel super guilty for a great glass of wine with dinner.
I'm ditching the egg beaters in lieu of some real eggs.
My carbs have been average 125g for January (yes I was tracking) - and now I'm going to analyze where they have been coming from and put it at 100g.
Understanding that my excessive cardio was required because of the fuel I was using changes my approach to my weekly workouts. (no more spinning hardcore 4x a week to complete exhaustion ;)

Brad mentioned this used to be an all day long seminar and they switched to a 3 hour format to get it out to more people. The crowd was quite small and I think they could have very easily done another hour. I know how tough it is to connect to a group and have the right level of detail for everyone, and they did a good job.

Best part - was hearing that it doesn't have to be a religion and if we simply cut grains and sugars we have won as individuals without having to be totally caveman and giving up some fun stuff ;)

So great to be able to attend a seminar and learn from the experts! :)

I have been following the Primal Blueprint for over 7 months now, and couldn't be happier. The food, the fitness, the lifestyle aspect... I love it all. :)

Couldn't you equate spinning to exhaustion as being your "sprints" once a week?

absolutely they could be my "sprints" - I definitely did that - BUT, I was honestly getting my HR to 175 for the better part of an hour and doing it 4-5 times a week. I was also doing some resistance training but am going to shift a bit. I did notice that my excessive cardio was completely wearing me out to the point of failure, pain, icing everytime I got home, but just cracked it up to the "no pain no gain" category.

I will still spin and I have a 220 mile bike race coming that I am training for, but I'm going to train my body rather than exhaust my body every time I workout.
