What exercise equipment/aids do you have/use at home?

Just dug out my stepper from under 9837537054276076 bags of cat food in the outside cupboard....

Apparently, 10 min = 78 cal (for my weight etc) at moderate speed.

Also have a skipping rope (never used) a hoola hoop (the one with weights in) - never used, ankle/wrist weights - never used and several DVDs (mostly still in wrappers) - again never used.

My daughter has an exercise bike in her place - hangs clothes on it most of the time...

What gadgets have you got and do you use them at all?

I dont have much room for big equipment in my flat but i have about 10 dvds, hand weights, wrist weights, a strange shake weight thing that my mum bought me (its still in the box), skipping rope, zumba toning sticks, another weird thing..i can only describe it as a disc that spins and you stand on it and kinda twist at the waist (it came with the skipping rope i dont really know what it is) Also a hula hoop which i can only keep up for 30 secs, it frustrates me so i wont be picking that up again for a while.

We also have some dumbells and a pull up bar which i dont/can't use but my boyfriend uses them.

I use the dvds, hand & wrist weights, and toning sticks...oh and the wii.

I've got the Wii fit, but seeing as the TV isn't connected to anything (despite asking the hubby several times to reconnect it again!) I can't use it at the moment. I have a vibration plate which I used to use every day but have used only a few times since getting wed. Also got dumbells, which got moved to the back bedroom when I tidied up for visitors and I've not seen them since.

If things aren't out where I can see them, they don't get used as I forget they're there... That's why I'm pretty good at not eating chocolate etc, I forget it's in the fridge!

Daughter took Wii when she moved out, will all the "fit" bits for it... NO doubt it is somewhere near that exercise bike that she hangs clothes on :)
  • i have a treadmill, which i spend most my time on... a rowing machine which i use occasionally, a rock n roller which i blast every now n then infront of the TV... and have a selection of ankle and hand weights, which i lift every night before bed, and a pedometer which i wear morning till night... also waiting for zumba DVD pack with toning sticks to arrive any day..... bearin in mind this has only been for the past 7 days but already feeling so much better for having used them.. determined NOT to fail this time :D... good luck to ya!!!

I'm very lucky. I have a full power rack and Olympic bar and weights set in my garage. It cost a fair bit of money (second hand off eBay and I needed to hire a van to get it home) but I save overall by not having to be a member of a gym. Cardio is running outside come rain or shine. I do have a decent exercise bike in the spare bedroom but I only use it a couple of times a year. I'd sell it but the second hand value is practically zero and it's neither in the way or costing me anything.

We have an Xbox with kinetic my fitness evolved but I never use it, it's mrs aperture science's toy.

Kettlebells (especially used with the Kettleworx program) is fantastic. I've also got a Wii, mini stepper, dumb bells and of course a load of dvd's, but I'm currently just using my cross trainer which is great!

My latest gadget is a rubber type of broom.

My hoover died, no cash to get a new one so got a rubber broom as got laminate/tiles all over the flat.

Now imagine running with that broom all over the flat every single day and then moping the same florrs....

Sometimes twice per day as with 4 cats and a large long haired dog.....

    Great workout ;)

And yes, housework /cleaning is listed as exercise on here - just in case anyone was wndering LOL

I use EA Active 2 for the Wii. It comes with a heart monitor and resistance band, it's basically a personal trainer - type work out in your living room. I do it first thing in the morning about four times a week, then at the weekends sometimes I'll do a step class on the game as well. I'm not a sporty person and am totally intimidated by the idea of doing exercise in public, so it's ideal for me. It was only £8 in the Game sale, too :-)

I have a pair of 1.5kg dumbbells and a pair of 3kg dumbbells. I know there's a 5kg pair somewhere, but I don't know if that's at my house or my mother's. I have a skipping rope, which I seldom use.

I also have a number of dvds - AM/PM Yoga for beginners, YogaBoxing, Belly Twins workout, the best of 10 minute blast with Suzanne Bowen, 30 Day Shred, and several belly dance technique dvds (Serpentine by Rachel Brice, Arms and Posture by Rachel Brice, Tribal Fusion by Sharon Kihara, I love Turkish Belly Dance). Every now and again I bust out a few dvds and workout.

We have a punch bag in our back garden as there's no space in the house for it. REally need to get using it.
