what a morning

I am, I suspect, perimenopausal. I am 42
Irregular periods all my life so they were no indication. I started at 8 years old and they have always been heavy, irregular and clotty.
Had hot flashes since I was in my 30s, especially if I drank alcohol
night sweats started about 12 months ago, now at the wet sheets stage
but the mood swings OMG
I have spent all morning crying on and off - I washed my hair (which is thinning and receding so quickly it is depressing) and burst into tears. I sat with my head on the side of the bath sobbing so hard my dogs ran in barking.
I watch TV and I cry - I shout, I rant and rave. I honestly feel like I have been possessed.
I felt so bad this morning I rang the Samaritans
In fact I am now crying again as I type this
What on earth is happening to me?

Oh bless you ((((HUG))))
I don't know what else to say0 -
I think that you should ask your doctor for some much needed advice. I don't want to be on HRT myself, but I believe if I were this miserable; I would be begging for it!! Get yourself to the doctor and get some blood work done A.S.A.P.! Hugs!!!0

I have an appointment booked with a doctor for next week.
Thank you for the hugs ladies.
I do feel miserable and I really really shouldnt0 -
Please seek some help. Take a walk in the meantime. You need to feel better. I am glad you have an appt scheduled. Take care and God bless you.0

I walk everyday, twice a day, regardless of the weather.
I do need to feel better as this is no fun for any of us. Hard to explain to hubby what is happening to his wife when I dont know myself - I sat with him tonight, wrapped in a big bear hug and that made me feel better. I am normally the 'glass is half full' kind of woman - it tiring being so down and crying makes my face go all blotchy :blushing:
I have no older sisters, mum or grandma to talk to about this time in my life so it came as almost a big a shock as my periods did.
Thank you all for being here and for sharing this time in your lives :flowerforyou:0 -
I've been there and on top of panic attacks. I got to the place I didn't even recognize myself. Have the Dr. test your hormone levels, he might not won't to, but insist on it. HRT helped some, but I ended up on an anti-depressant. The Dr suggested it and I fought it for awhile, but finally got so miserable. They were the answer for me.0

I have been to the local alternative therapies centre today to see about homoeopathy.
Has anyone tried it?0 -
I use progesterone cream and it seems to help balance some of the whacky hormones.0

I have tried acupuncture and Network Spinal Analysis (google it), both with great success for mood issues, menstrual problems and asthma. I'm glad you have an appointment with your doctor. You might consider a therapist too, but personally I'm more inclined to do the acupuncture and NSA, as they've been so successful for me.
Stay in touch online... I've found that helps too.

Well I was dismissed by the doctor.
Apparently I have depression and should be on anti depressants.
She did not listen to a word I said.
She has however asked for a blood test to check my thyroid and despite me saying how miserable the food diary thing has made me has asked me to keep a food diary.
Felt like telling her to shove it up her jacksy and come back and sit in my seat in 25 years time when she goes through similar0 -

Problem is we live in a very small town miles from anywhere - I will be asking if they have a well woman clinic or a doctor more empathic
Good job I didnt see her last week - I would have been escorted from the property :blushing:0 -
I live in a town like that too! I have to drive over an hour, which isn't too bad, to find a better selection of health care providers.0
