How does autism make losing weight difficult for you?
My main struggle is when he is home I can't go to the gym. So weekends and no school days, I'm on the wii or videos after bedtime and I lose motivation. And the he loves car rides so we go for a couple hr drive every weekend which leads to snacking. I'm trying to bring healthier snacks but we usually end up stopping for coffee or lunch so I'm still not doing too well. Hopefully when the weather gets better we can bike ride!!

My son thinks we're playing a game when I'm exercising. He'll run circles around me while I'm doing aerobics/cardio (I've accidentally knocked him over before due to running into him). When I'm on the stair stepper he tries to grab my legs and hips to hang on. If I'm stretching or doing my brazilian butt lift video he crawls through my legs as if I'm a tunnel to go through or something. I cannot go to the gym unless I have someone I trust to watch him (that's rare). Even though that makes things difficult, I can't help but smile because he's just too cute, giggling and all.
I just do what I can when I can.0 -
It makes it really difficult to take care of myself as a person in a whole.....When our son is home it is a constant battle....Behaviours, Pica, Fetal alcohol Syndrome, You name it, he has it.....We were hoping that after his adoption with his younger brother, it would of provided some stability for him as well offer him the love and support he so much needs...unfortunately he has severe attachment disorder and we were told that it isnt going to get any better......His doctor mentioned group home and we r totally against it for now....he is 8 and his behaviours can be vicous.......This breaks our hearts, because we truly love this boy with all our hearts.....0

Ugh! I can't imagine! My favorite part of my son is that he likes to cuddle. A mentor/friend I had recently had to but their son into a group home because he has gotten violent as a teenager which is sad enough but as an 8 yr old?! That seems so tiny. I'm amazed that you are here and dealing with that. I'm going to remember that next time we have a bad day and I want to quit. My heart goes out to you. Hopefully you'll find a workable solution.0

I cant go to a gym. Changing in public places, and being with lots of new people in a noisy place that i've never been in before and stuff i've never done before is a mixture from hell.
I have real problems with food as well, i dont have a particularly restricted diet, but there are foods that i wont eat, like celery and green peppers and string beans. Stuff like porridge, yoghurts with barley and rice pudding knocks me sick. I think that its the texture more than anything. Trying new things is very hard even if i know that i like something very similar eg. i like sweetcorn so therefore baby sweetcorn should be alright...you'd think so, but i cant eat it.
Making changes to existing routines and the fact that the course i'm on has no repetition in the timetable is freaking me out a little.0
