Pre challenge chat thread!

Feel free to chat it up everyone! Get to know each other as we're here to really get down and dirty about our healthy lives. Knowing a little bit about each person is really helpful!

I'm really enjoying reading the bios! I think we're going to have a great group!

For those that haven't checked out my profile, I'm a chemistry graduate student, working towards my PhD. This requires long hours in the lab, and more than I would like in front of a computer. I have struggled with my weight all through my adult life, and I'm currently on a medically supervised weight loss plan. It's strict, it's miserable, and I get cranky easy. I just need support to get me through the weight loss phase. Once I start eating again, I'm going to need all sorts of help! My dinners are always very healthy, except for the occasional indulgence in ice cream. I know how to eat right, the problem is doing it!

Looking forward to getting to know everyone!

    Wowie! Up to 30 members already. I may need to break us up into squads! A little friendly competition never hurt anyone! :bigsmile:

    I like the idea of being one large group for the first run. Then I'll need some dedicated people to run squads for me! We'll get a feel for how it goes this way first!

    Oh, and I'll need a couple moderators too, I'm sure. No hurry to fill the positions yet.

    I have a family of 3 surviving off of 1 income. It's very hard for me to afford to eat healthy without depriving my family. I am here to find cheap, healthy and good foods to provide for me and my family.

    I'm very excited about this challenge!

  • I work as a manufacturing engineer so I spend an average of 10 hours a day in front of a computer. When I get home I have no desire to exercise, just want to eat and veg out. I am hoping the group will help me get motivated to do what I need to do. I am looking forward to the challenge.

    Wishing it was Friday! Why? Because I'm off Friday-Saturday. Working six days in a row kind of stinks. :grumble:

    Be glad when I go into training for the new work project end of the month. At least I'll have a reasonable schedule.

    Doing well with food choice today and water. Water is all I drink anyway. :drinker:

    The munchie urge happened so I made my popcorn that I had planned for snack and ate a bit of that and it is helping.

    You know what helps me prevent the munchies? Lots of protein and fiber. Get in early in the day, and the rest of the day is a piece of cake!
    Looking forward to my run this afternoon! Doing week 1 day 2 of my modified couch-2-5k program. Treadmills suck, but I don't do the outdoors so much in winter...
    Drinking up my water! Yay!

    I do pretty well protein wise. The fiber I need to work on.

    How do you like the c25k program? I've got to get back into a regular routine for exercise. It's fallen off by the way side. Nobody's fault but my own. Hoping to change that with this challenge!

    Good workout for me this morning, too. Somewhere on mfp I read about a person who was sort of at a plateau and "gave up" one day and just walked on a treadmill at a really high incline....and he liked the results. So, I now do Pilates on Monday, elliptical on Tuesday and treadmill/incline on Thursday. Hope to fit in another workout w/hubby on the weekend. If I can do 4 days a week, including a weekend, I will feel pretty good about exercise. Food is another thing entirely!! I'm doing better than 1 month ago, but part of me keeps wondering, "When will this all be over and I can go pig out at the Mexican Restaurant down the street?"

    Congrats on the workout! Unfortunately you can't go back to pigging out if you want to maintain your losses! But you are certainly allowed to enjoy what you eat. So when you sit down to eat, consciously enjoy every bite! It helps!

    Hi All! I just added my bio to the other thread, but i will also introduce myself a little here. I am 31 and i live in Maine. I didnt include on the other thread that i work in the mental health field with children. I am also a photographer, so that is my part time business.

    TGIF! I am beat! Been a long week, now fighting whatever my boyfriend had earlier in the week, plus the results of finding yeast in the weirdest places! Definitely allergic to yeast though. So bye bye breads! Waaaah! :sad:

    Going to start putting stuff together for next week! Excited everyone? I'm happy to be doing this!

    Didn't feel like working out but once I got done with my cardio felt pretty good!
    I already drank 32 oz. of water while doing the workout
