OK I need some help. My diary is open for my friends. I have been at this for 4 mos and have only lost 10 pounds. What am I doing wrong? I am getting so frustrated.

Are you eating a lot of processed foods and carbs? I find the weight starts to drop off me if I reduce the carbs and eat more fresh foods.0

I know it sounds counter intuitive, but try eating more. You should eat your allotted calories + exercise calories. Many people have explained it better than I can, but I found this article to be helpful: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/3047-700-calories-a-day-and-not-losing
Good luck!

Stay will it, 10 pounds in 4 months is pretty good! Try more fiber by eating fresh foods and cutting out sugar and processed foods as much as possible.0

First off, I think that for a woman over 40, a 10 pound loss in 4 months is great. I am turning 48 next month and dieted back in my 30s to lose 90 pounds (down to 116 pounds) and kept it off for a year until I got pregnant. Back then I could easily drop 2 pounds a week. That is no longer the case. Part of the great thing about a "Women 40 and Over" group is that we can be more realistic about our goals and expectations. I decided this year that I am going to be VERY happy with a loss of 1/2 pound per week (or 2 pounds per month). If I can do that consistently I will drop 25 pounds this year and be half way to my goal. Anything over 2 pounds in a month is bonus pounds for me!
And second, I followed the Curves program a few years ago and they also teach that when you hit a plateau you should up your calories until you put up to 3 pounds back on and then drop back down. I guess it just "shakes" your metabolism up and gets it revved up and going. We can easily plateau and get into ruts.
Good going! Keep up the good work. Consistency is the key!0
