So here I am, 6 days post op. Everything during surgery went well. I woke up and felt fine. My doctor had two "on-Q" pumps inserted above my incisions which helped numb a lot of the pain, but when the nurses suited me up for a shower (put aquasafe coverings over all of my incisions/on-Q pumps and IV) we had a bit of an issue. When she took the coverings off, the on-Q catheter seemed to come loose, as well as the dressing around it and I had some leakage. It wasn't painful unless I was trying to get up out of bed.

The worst part of the entire process was everytime I got back into bed they would put these leg pumps on my calves to prevent clotting, and I got a lovely rash from it. It's fine now, but man was that itchy and annoying!!

I'm not quite sure how much I've lost so far. I'm scheduled for my post op visit with the doctor on Monday, so I will update everyone then! I can't wait until the day I look in the mirror and finally see a change.

Glad to hear you are doing better. I didn't have any of those Q things you mentiioned, and I wasn't in the hosp long enough to need a shower. I had my surgery on a Mon morning and I was home Wed aft. I did get the rash, but not on my legs. It was horrible dermitis all over my stomach and it spread down my thighs. Ended up on prednisone. Glad that's over.

Good luck with looking in the mirror. 5 weeks out and I still hate the way I look. I'm more grateful to hear the kudos from my family, friends and co-workers. Then I don't think I'm totally crazy, when I do look in the mirror, and don't notice a change at all.

oh i hated those leg things too! i would unwrap them every time a nurse left the room =/ did they leave any drains or the pumps in? if they did, you'll feel wonderful when they are removed.

those pounds are going to fly off! keep us updated! =D

I had my surgery on Friday, took a shower Saturday evening (which is when that happened), and the doctor came in Sunday morning and decided to just remove the on-Q pumps since it was leaking and causing me more discomfort than they were worth. I luckily didn't have to deal with any drains!

I was so happy she took them out, and then I got to go home Sunday afternoon! :D woohoo
