I love me some Cracker Barrel! But I digress. I made another post that explains the calorie and carb breakdown according to the Type II Diabetic diet it lays out in the booklet. Fast food falls within these numbers, which makes these specific choices okay.

I've been thinking about the breakfast choices listed here and if you are able to eat them and keep your sugars low, then kudos to you! I unfortunately cannot. So I thought I'd add my meager list here for those who are like me... My bod can't seem to deal with anything processed. My choices are home cooked... Eating out for breakfast and maintaining an even blood sugar level doesn't happen. (Although I discovered the Tim Hortons egg white breakfast sammi on a ww english muffin {240cal})
I always have 2 cups of coffee with skim milk before breakfast... (fell off the coffee-free bandwagon)

    1. Steel Cut Oats, 1/2 cup prepared with water
top with: 1/4 cup blueberries & a few nuts -pecans, or almonds

or top with: 1/2 of an apple, chopped & 1 tbsp raisins

    2. 1 slice Steady Eddie Bread (Silver Hills Bakery), 1 tbsp. natural peanut butter & 1 tsp. E.D. Smith triple fruit no sugar added jam.

    3. 1 slice Steady Eddie Bread, 1 tsp low fat / salt margerine, 2 eggs cooked with spray not oil or butter

    4. 2 scoops Vega (Sequel Naturals) Whole Food Optimizer mixed into 1 cup of water

I am allowed 30-45 grams of carbs for each meal. For breakfast I tend to gravitate towards Kashi cereals with a lower carb ratio and I always use unsweetened Almond Milk because it is lower in carbs than regular milk...and tasty!!

Breakfast is the hardest meal for me because I never used to eat breakfast here are some of mine.
Hard Boiled eggs are good in a pinch
    CHobani Yogurt
    egg Sandwich(home made)
    Luna Bar
    Kashi Bar
Maple cream of wheat is one of my new favs
    Oatmeal
1/2 a bagel w. cream cheese or peanut butter
I change it up a lot because I get bored
If your a cereal person but the portions are too small you can add Kamut or puffed wheat/corn Arrowhead brand comes unsweetened it's great for bulking up the portions with you bulking up on the numbers.

Breakfast is my fav meal of the day - sometimes I make it for dinner, but I have to use caution. Starting with certain foods can make the rest of my day rough with cravings, etc. I don't really let myself have fast food... Subway (or other sub shops) being the exception... I will get a 6" sub and eat only half, or get a kids meal).

I like having some of these foods
Bagel Thins w/Laughing Cow cream cheese (light creamy swiss is my favorite)
Hard boiled eggs (keep them in the fridge for the week)
Oatmeal - with cinnamon & splenda, or other fruit.
    Apple
    Chobani yogurt
    Multigrain cheerios
Light Soy Milk (new found favorite) -- 8oz = 6g carb
Village Hearth Light Wheat bread -- if I want toast, 2 slices = 15g carb
