i am one month into a cut cycle and my lifts are going way down. I also had to deal with stomach flu and a wicked cold in the same month. I only cut 250 calories from my TDEE so nothing drastic. I wanted to do a 60 days cut but i am not sure if it is a very good idea. This is my first cut cycle so i am not sure if it is normal to lose that much strenght or not

Can you give some info about what calorie amount you were eating prior to going to a cut? Also it seems you know what your TDEE is, so if you could share that number as well as how you're calculating it.
How many calories are you now eating on your cut?0 -

Your calories shouldn't be an issue, especially with a small drop in calories as you've done.
Are you sure it's strength you're losing or is it endurance? Meaning, do you tire quickly?
I'd be willing to bet that the reduction of your calories (250), came primarily from carbohydrates? If so this would explain you having less endurance than what you're used too on a higher calorie diet.0 -
I was wondering if it was lack of carb related too... What time of the day do you lift?0

What are your macros currently, in grams?
Can you quantify how much of a strength decrease you've had and how does this tie into your stomach bug in terms of timing? (i.e. did you get sick and just have a bad week in the gym?).
Did you make any changes to your program that coincide with switching to a cut?0 -
If you weren't able to lift for 2 weeks, I can almost assure you the strength loss was due to lack of training. I fell victim to the same issue during my cut. I couldn't lift for 2 weeks due to working double shifts non-stop. Lack of training zapped my strength.0

How long did it take to recover to where you were before the 2 week hiatus, if you remember? This would be interesting to know, even if it's just anecdotal.0 -

I lift at lunch time before breaking my fast.0 -

I eat 100g of protein a day and do not care about my other macro.
When I started my cut, I also started the cutting phase of my lifting program. I went from 4 x 4rep to 3 x 15 rep....So I knew I would have to lower the weight. Talking to you I think my endurance is going down. I changed so many things at the same time (type of workout + calories) plus being sick. I think I will stop my cutting phase for a few weeks, go to maintenance for a bit then cut again for another 30 days.0 -
Doing this for the last 6 months, i was able to maintain my weight while lifting heavy and lost inches.
Why not just keep going then?0 -
