Oils - Help!

What oils are the best for a paleo diet?
I have read to stay away from vegetable, peanut, canola, etc. I see people talking about using coconut oil, but I read it was bad too. I'm confused. I also read that EVO was good but not to cook with it.
Does anyone know of a reference website where I can read about this and actually take it as being accurate?

I don't any sources except maybe Robb Wolf's website and Mark's Daily Apple, but from what I understand, coconut oil and saturated fats are actually very good for you if they are coming from the correct sources, like whole foods and grass fed meats. I am not full paleo, but I am working towards that (thinking about a 30 day challenge soon). I only use grass fed butter (kerrygold), EVOO, coconut oil, and animal fats to good with. Let me just tell you, nothing tastes better than veggies in butter
I am an avid listener of paleo podcasts, so this is where I am getting the above info.0 -
Robb & Mark are excellent resources.
I render my own beef fat and I love to cook with it. A friend raises cattle and I get pounds of it from her. I also use butter, EVOO, and coconut oil. I like Tropical Traditions (http://www.tropicaltraditions.com/). I've used almond butter and want to try other nut butters when funds allow.
I'm not sure if I gave you this site link before but it has lots of good Paleo links and is quite comprehensive: http://paleodiet.com/
This site has great Paleo recipes and is sistered to the PaleoDiet site: http://paleofood.com/
Gary Taubes' books discuss fats thoroughly and how they impact our sysrtems. Have you checked out Weston Price Foundation? They're at: http://www.westonaprice.org/

Do you get the coconut oil from a regular grocery store? Is it in with the other oils? I normally shop at Publix and I did not see it with the other oils.0

The last time that I purchased coconut oil, I got it on Amazon. I bought this and I like the taste alot: http://www.amazon.com/Garden-Life-Virgin-Coconut-Organic/dp/B00014IVPQ/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1326760965&sr=8-12
BTW - I recently tried Bob's Red Mill Organic Coconut Flour because I wanted to make some Paleo cheesecakes and I needed a scant amount of flour. It's good. http://www.amazon.com/Bobs-Red-Mill-Organic-Coconut/dp/B0019GZ7Z2/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1326761308&sr=8-2
I bought the coconut flour at a regular grocer. I haven't found coconut oil in a standard grocer yet. : (0 -

I get my coconut oil from the net. I think there is a great American site called iherb. You will find it there.0

Most health food type stores sell coconut oil (Trader Joes, Whole Foods, Fresh and Easy, Sprouts, etc...). I don't know what is in your area, but if you have a health food store, check there. I also buy it off amazon. I like the Nutiva brand.0

If you make your own bone broth you can get tallow for free, and it's great for frying!0

Coconut oil is good for you. Coconut oil is a super food. I eat it and cook with it every day.
To learn more about coconut and coconut oil, check out The Coconut Research Center at: http://www.coconutresearchcenter.org/
Everything you need to know about coconut oil.
You can also use full fat butter and olive oil.

I make ghee (in the crockpot) from unsalted Kerrygold butter; you can cook at very high heat with it. I also cook with avocado oil and heard macadamia oil stands up to heat (haven't tried it). The avocado oil comes in a pack of two from Amazon and is pretty reasonably priced.
But my favorite is (of course) coconut oil!0
