as i am reading more and more on this forum and feel like i have found paleo heaven on here, i was just wondering what political affiliation is the most popular with people here or in this lifestyle. just wondering for no other purpose than curiosity. after going paleo i have become a "dont listen to anything the government says is good" party member. what about you?

ok, I'll play a little but I'm not into revealing my political affilation.

I admit, up until recently, I used to snicker at conspiracy theorists (chem trails controlling the weather, anyone?)

However, lately I find myself really questioning food (corn subsidies), disease, and in particular the government's role (the food pyramid? geez!) as I follow the money trail a bit.

I might becoming a very healthy wack job though :)

I call myself a "paleolibertarian" on some days; a "Goldwater Conservative" on others. Friends often refer to me as a "redneck hippie". I have a healthy distrust of the government on most issues - when the liberals are in power, they want to steal our freedoms; when the conservatives are, they just want to pick our pockets.

I live out in the country, where I can give people their space, live the way I want, post 'no trespassing' signs at the edge of my property - and will back it up. ;)
  • very interesting as we seem to agree on almost every point. except i dont live in the country and i dont think i could ever survivie in the wild. lol. camping out to me is a hotel without hbo haha but i guess i am a libertarian too. i just want the government out of my pockets and certainly out of my food. but yes its scary how big the wheat and corn and saybean lobbies are!!!

    You, too?

I'm not political at all. The government is too full of corruption on both sides.
And yes when the goverment got involved in our diet and our health it became about politics and money. That's a scary thing.
The doctors are no better (they get most of their 'knowledge' from pharma salesmen).

I'm learning to do the complete opposite of what the mainstream media and medical establishments say to do. It seems I'm much healthier doing it this way.

You are living my dream. I love rednecks (I have one! Well - he's "borderline'. His Mom's a snob and his Dad's a country boy - prefer Dad's company) and I love hippies (I've got some in me but not from my parents!)
One of these days we will be living on a large property and will be living off the land. (We're doing the best we can on the half-acre I have now). But my man's a mean hunter - I know he'll take care of me.

I like the "paleolibertarian" label. :D I'd say that applies to me. Ron Paul supporter and I try not to identify with either political party because I don't think either side is "right" on all the issues. My dad taught me to always question everything and everyone even if their beliefs seem in line with yours. Not necessarily in a paranoid way, more along the lines of keeping informed and always being able to back up your own beliefs. I rarely trust any government studies especially pertaining to food.

And if they're willing to put a persons healthy in jeopardy by publishing such blatant nutritional lies then what else are they not telling us? Seems sort of conspiracy theorist like someone mentioned, but like I said, I think you should always question things and seek out more information ESPECIALLY when it pertains to your health and well being.

    Food is Power.

It amuses me to remember that in the 'Omen' movies (from the '60s/'70s) Damien became the Antichrist only after he cornered and controlled the world's food resources....

If you really want to lose sleep thinking with fictional examples of food = power, read Blindness by José Saramago. *chills*

I don't live in the US, so I'm obviously coming from a different perspective, but I'd describe myself as a socialist hippie type.
