Do you consider pinto beans to be a low or high carb food? Yes, 1 cup has 47 carbs but they also have 15g fiber and 15g protein. Do you exclude these from your diet or are they on the ok list?

I wouldn't touch them with a 10ft pole when low carbing. You still have to consider that 1 cup has 32g of Net Carbs, which for me personally right now is more carbs than I allow myself in an entire day. Legumes of any kind are generally to be avoided while low carbing until you start reintroducing foods and seeing how they affect your weight loss (or gain as it were). For some people legumes are to be avoided except on rare occasions as they trigger weight gain or cravings in some.

I use them, but my net carbs are generally right around 100g/day, so I am on the higher end of low carb. I limit myself to no more than 1/2 cup of beans at a meal, and no more than 1 full cup per day. Left to my devices, I could ruin my diet eating beans, since I enjoy them so much. They are much more filling than they may at first seem, and 1/2 cup can really satisfy your hunger if you wait twenty minutes or so after eating them.
