Blade is king, end of. i like my vampires futuristic and *kitten*-kicking. however i do have a soft spot for bram stokers dracula and interview with a vampire, coz i was a kid when they came out. :D

Graphic novel or movie? I love Snipes! But the second movie? eh... The third? HARF! Ryan Reynolds is like fingernails on a chalk board to me. He ruined Green Lantern.

I can't believe I forgot Bram Stoker's Dracula. Loved that film!

Anne Rice's are a given! The books more than the movies... they could have done SOOOO much better with Queen of the Damned!

The Anita Blake series was good

I LOVED the most recent release of Fright Night! (Ok... I totally watched it because of David Tennant, but in the end I really loved the movie!)

Ditto! (on Fright Night) I thought Ginger had all the best lines. Apparenlty there are more vampires in Vegas as Johnny Depp may be doing Night Stalker here...
  • I tried reading the Sookie books but couldn't get into them. I put Twiglight in the "ashamed to love it" category. I find myself rolling my eyes reading/watching them all the time but I can't help feel like a giddy school girl for the whole ride.

Vampire Diaries really floats my boat. Team Damon all the way! Unrequited love melts me every time. I thought it was going to be a poor imitation of Twilight but I actually like it much better.

It helps that the fellow who plays Damon is ultimately kind. Chatters non stop about rescuing animals and saving the planet. Volunteers his time to sit at local pet shelters and dole out hugs and autographs for anyone stopping by. He's being given an award by the Human Society of the US. I wish things like that would get reported on the news rather than the Twitter war between country singer and rap singer. Yawn...

never really did the whole graphic novel thing - but snipester kicking *kitten* on the big screen totally rocked my world! the only good thing about the 3rd movie was that Triple H was in it! haha i'm a wrestling geek also... lmao

main pull of bram stokers dracula - Gary Oldman. best actor ever and pretty much in every single fave movie of mine!

I love graphic novels! I will go see any movie, no matter how bad, based on a comic or graphic novel.

Love Sookie! Waiting for the new one, the books are much better than the show, which has been getting steadily worse......
I really like Twilight! I think they are taken too seriously (the films are terrible), for me they're chick lit, I don't read real chick lit though! Light and fluffy, Bella has no personality because it's easier for teenage girls to imagine they're her!

OH! That explains it. I was wondering why a woman couldn't write a girl with any personality. Athough I really loved Alice.

I read Twilight, and enjoyed it as kind of a guilty pleasure type thing. The movie however did not do the book justice, and I found it fairly ****eous, as well as its sequels... I haven't seen the latest one, but I'll assume it's just as bad.

As for True Blood, I have not read the Sookie books but I agree that it's been sort of lacking. But I still love it.

The Sookie novels are getting way out of hand with the fairy stuff as are the shows. Don't get me wrong I love fairies included in these books as part of the supernatural, but she is just taking it too far as is the show.

What did everyone think about the latest Laurell K. Hamilton, Anita Blake book Hit List? I don't know about you, but I was glad she got back to real writing and away from the sex. Don't get me wrong I love some erotica/romance/sex thrown in, but she was just taking that too far.

my question is why are vamps always so damn good looking??? There are rarely ugly vampires.

    Disagree. :cough: Twilight :cough:

ha haha, I agree. Sorry people, vamps don't sparkle. =)
  • How are you guys missing The Strain? Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan wrote a series of books about real deal scary vampires that don't sparkle or try to mate with you. It's a great mix of scifi and horror. It kicks Twilight in it's sparkly junk.

Vampire Hunter D and Hellsing (not to be confused with Van Hellsing) are definitely two of my favorite movies. Black Blood Brothers was also pretty good - too short though. If you ever have an opportunity to read the Dresden series by Jim Butcher, the vampires are pretty awesome. The Samantha Moon series by J.R. Rain is also really good.

you rock just for bringing those up some of my fav animes!!! They need to make more.....

Vampire in Brooklyn was a intresting one to say the least

True Blood season one was awsome ... SOOKIE!!!

    The Gates was okay

Twilight I've watched the 1st 2 movies they are okay but when did vampires start to sparkle in the sunlight?!?

Being Human is one i enjoy watching (The US version more than the UK one)

Most of all I have to say I love the bad b movies about vampires that I can't even remember their names cause well they make my lol.

I stopped reading Anita Blake awhile ago (ummm...The Harlequin was the last one I read). I was so tired of the sex. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind a good sex scene, just not one every two pages. The books used to have a real story line instead of just setting up the next scene for Anita to spread her legs. All the original stuff about Anita got lost. She used to wear practical clothes because she might have to fight (seriously there is now way she can do that in stilettos, thigh high stockings and skirt that maybe (maybe) covers her *kitten*), she used to raise zombies, she was a cop (kinda). I'm all for a character growing and evolving but she just grew into a porn star.

I will admit to loving vampires as much as everyone else. I started reading Anne Rice when I was a teen and loved it! Except Loius! He was too whiny for me. In the end, I think my biggest pet peeve with vampires are the whiny ones. If you are going to be a monster then I prefer it if you kind of act like one. I suppose that is why I enjoy Anita Blake, because (despite the fact that they are always having orgies nowadays) they vamps are totally monsters. I will admit to reading humorous vampire romances too, like the ones by Lynsay Sands, Kerrelyn Sparks, and Katie MacAlister, totally not vampy, but quite addictive. Aslo, Kim Harrison I like, and I have tried out J.R. Ward (who I plan on continuing to read) and Charlaine Harris. With Harris, I might need a little more push to move on, I didn't like the main guy (what is his name again?) and that threw me off.
I tried the first Twilight book and...*sigh*...not my thing. Its definitely hits my pet peeve. Edward is a pansy, and I truly hate Bella. I don't care if other people love Twilight, to each his own and all, but I think Bella is a moron.
Also, I have read Dracula. It was OK, I definitely don't see the romance in it and mostly found Dracula to be perfectly monsterous and gross (dude smells bad).
And Buffy was fun to watch as well. However I find myself drooling over Giles rather than the vamps (well, ok Spike too). :)

Liked Vampire D, but the Hellsing anime is my favorite vampire anything of ALL TIME! I highly recommend it to anyone.

Phew! That's all the vampire crap I can think of right now! Sheesh. I am sad.

I actually don't find any of the Twilight vampires attractive, nor do I find the True Blood ones very good looking either. I was really disappointed in the True Blood men though, I was really hoping Eric was going to hot, and he just looks...not. At least not to me. Guess that is why I prefer reading books!

OMG! It looks freaking awesome! I never watched the old Dark Shadows so I can't say as to how they are following the storyline, etc. But I love everything Tim Burton does anyway!

Dresden Files vampires are the best to me... they clearly define different types of vampires who feed on different 'things'... blood, life force... and have different 'courts' that don't necessarily get along. Very cool.

Forever Knight was great! Almost forgot about that show.

I'm totally not into Twilight at all, I don't think Edward is cute and Jacob looks like a llama.

    I love Blade 2 :ohwell:

Blade> awesome. but I blame Ryan Reynolds for that. Blade himself has the personality of a brillo pad. Boo.

Anne Rice = Vampire Chronicles> Okey dokey. Loved the movie but it makes vampires seem very boo hoo I'm a fang face or mwahaha hah I eat your face. No inbetweenie weenie.

True Blood> Its the sex and Sookies personality that rocks this series. The fangs are just a bonus.

Buffy> I loved the comedy. Spike had me in stitches.

Underworld> I found myself liking the furballs more in this one.

Vampire Diaries> One word...Damon. Drool. One please.

Twilight> over it. Liked the books but the movies make vampires out to be either totally whipped or evil. Nothing in between.

Van Helsing (which if you have not watched the anime Hellsing I highly suggest you do if you like Helsing)> Happy...so happy.

Vampire Hunter D (Personal Favorite.) > A little too brooding but I love the Hunter D.

    You missed

Laurell K Hamilton's Anita Blake Vampire Hunter Series >Starts out awesome, ends up in bed with...everything. There's a plus and minus to all this. You kind of lose your bad *kitten* edge when you start to transcend the hooker boundary.

    Blade

    AWESOME I approve.

    Anne Rice = Vampire Chronicles

Never read. I saw a movie that I believe was based off one of the books. It's been so long... can't remember the title of the movie but I did enjoy it.

    True Blood

I love it. also "hooker"

    Buffy

love it. this was really my 1st true exposure to the vampire genre. sad it went off air.
glad when Mr. Whedon brought it back via comic books.

    Underworld

    I like it.

    Vampire Diaries

never seen. heard they don't sparkle so I have it queued up on Netflix.

    Twilight
    never read the books. :indifferent:
then when I saw them sparkle :noway:
 MFP needs a barf smiley. oh well close enough...
Vampires do NOT sparkle in the sunlight....They burst into flame. That is all
    fig,red,mens,ffffff.jpg

I personally don't mind romance, love dovey stuff in vampire stories. but Twilight I just can't get past the sparkle thing...

Van Helsing (which if you have not watched the anime Hellsing I highly suggest you do if you like Helsing)

    I like it. I approve.

    Vampire Hunter D (Personal Favorite.)

Saw as a anime long ago. I liked it.
