I just had to start a terrier topic. I've yet to upload pics, when I can figure out how to do it, of my Westie, Fred, onto this page.
Please feel free to talk about your Terriers. Post pictures of your beloved dogs.

Fred can be soooo funny. He talks to me all the time, when he's not asleep that is which is quite a lot .

I love the way he stretches out on the rug with back legs flat out behind him (i need to post a picture of this). He also rubs his belly on the carpet in this position too which looks like he's attempting a yoga pose :-D

I love him loads. He's my baby <3

Im just off to get snapping so lets get some great photos going

    We have three terriers.
A Westie( 9 years old), he is the best dog ever. Playful and gentle.
A Cairn( 7 years old), smart, but a real pain.
A Teacup Yorkie(4 years old), a 4 pound sweetie, that bosses around her 20 pound brothers.

I have a 2 year old Wheaten Terrier named Ozzy. He thinks he's a person, and man of the house. Ice cubes are his favorite thign ever, he grumbles at everything like a grumpy old man, but he's full of snuggles and love.

I love all the terriers, such fiesty and cheeky characters. My favourite breed though is the Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Such a misunderstood breed but such a lovely, family friendly nature.

I have a 7 year old Staffie, Murphy and he is a great dog. Full of personality and such a loyal companion.

I just have to reply to this thread because I've been getting this a lot lately.
Giant schnauzers are NOT terriers! (Now you know. haha!) They are working dogs. We used to have a mini schnauzers so I know the difference!

My question, though, is do Staffie-bull terriers and Bull terriers act like other "terrier" breeds?
When I think of terriers I think of barking and stubborn behavior. I love terriers but this is the behavior I associate with them. They want to do things on *their* terms. I met an adorable Cairn terrier this weekend at an agility seminar, she could run fast as the wind but didn't particularly enjoy jumping!

Can't believe people thought your Giant Shnauzers were from the Terrier group?! Beautiful dogs btw.

Staffordshire Bull Terriers and Bull Terriers are a cross of the Terrier and the Bulldog so have characteristics of both breeds. They are not really barkers and prefer to grumble more than bark. They can be head strong so need lots of positive training from day 1. They are easy to train though and will do anything to please their masters and that's why in the wrong hands they can be dangerous.

    From the Kennel Club

The American Staffordshire Terrier and the Staffordshire Bull Terrier are separate breeds, although from similar ancestory.
