Ab Work??

I'm still waiting for my program to arrive, so I can't turn on a video to see the answer to my question.
Do you feel that BR has enough ab work in it, or should I plan to add my own 3 times a week? I didn't feel like my abs were getting a lot of attention during 30DS, but that's the only other JM program I've done. I'm just worried that this one might be the same way.
I could do ab ripper X (from P90X) 3 times a week if I needed to, or take a class or something at the gym to mix it up a bit.
Would you recommend the "ab supplement," or do you think there's already enough ab work to keep you happy in BR?
PS- I don't know if it matters, but I have about 20 pounds to lose before I'm at goal. I've already lost 20.8. I'm a healthy weight now, and am just trying to lose what's left and tone up a lot.

I always add more ab work, whether its another video of hers or with weights/classes at my gym. Her exercises are good but I want to make sure I get enough in since she seems to not focus much on it. I like the ab exercises in Phase 3&4 though. I miss doing Ab Ripper X.
It's up to you ultimately if you feel you're getting in enough ab work though. Just do what feels right.0 -
I think there is plenty of ab work. Most moves in the strength training discs engage your abs. But if you want to add more, good for you!0

For workout 1 and 2, I added 50 crunches and 3 sets of 12 oblique exercises 4 times a week. Workout 3 I thought had plenty of ab work with all the planks and specific ab exercises, so I did not add anything today. I will be doing workout 4 for the first time tomorrow.
I would say that it is up to you. If you finish the workout and still feel like you need more on abs, then do more. Just be careful not to over train those muscles.0 -
my first day was yesterday, and i could hardly sit up in bed this morning because my abs hurt so bad! she has you modify some moves to get more ab work in if you want. but i think there is plenty!0

I think she wimps out on the abs a lot in 30DS and RI30, but I'm in week 4 and I think Workout 3 especially has a lot of good ab work. Workout 1 and 2 weren't very ab-focused, but try to do the inchworms in Workout 3 and you'll feel it the next day.0

Thanks so much! When it gets here, I'll just try it for a week to see how it goes and add abs if I need to. I was just hoping it wasn't going to be a tiny little focus on core like 30DS, and it looks like it won't be. Thanks again!!0

I thought the same thing, Weeks 3-4 are way better with ab work. I think Week 1-2 were just to get your body familiar to just exercising in general with the program. 3 always kills me.0
