Down 10!

Since my second child was born, four and a half YEARS ago, I have been unable to get my body back to where it was before I got pregnant with him. I was starting to think that my body was forever altered. I did a few halfhearted attempts at South Beach (always starving, no energy), took up running (great boost to my appetite!), strict calories-in-calories-out via MFP... I might squeak down five or six pounds for literally a day before rebounding up. My set point did not want to move.

Two months in, and I'm finally around where I was before I had my son. Weight wise it's about the same, give or take a pound or two, depending on water weight. But I am actually a full size smaller. I bought new jeans last week. I tried on 16 pairs of various brands, so I don't think it was vanity sizing!

Not only have I lost weight, I've gained a lifestyle. I'm more aware of the quality of food I am putting in my body. The impact that food has on my overall wellness. I get so much enjoyment out of food I previously denied myself (bacon! bacon!) I love moving my body. I walk with my friends and we can actually talk (instead of huffing while we tried to run). I love sprinting up hills until I feel like dying and an hour later I'm euphoric with energy. I'm finally feeling like my old self as I reclaim my body.

Well done!! This is really inspiring to read, and further convinces me that this lifestyle does work for people who embrace it.

Well done...as someone who tried the "correct" way (oh low fat...or you must not be recording all your food - because you should be loosing (and I wasn't and I was recording everything - even that damn hersey kiss) ) and found it failed for me it is glad to know I am not the only one that has found this lifestyle workable and WORKING for my body...

Nice. How long did that 10 take?
What I like is that you probably didn't feel like you were suffering through a diet.

Thanks all! I'm feeling pleased as punch today. I'm loving this journey!
  • I love posts like these too! They contrast so sharply with tales of struggle, hunger and self recrimination elsewhere on the MFP boards. WTG!

so true. I have been doing MFP since last summer (pre-primal). Everytime I would wander into the forums, I found people crying about starving or slaving and killing themselves to get a lb off. (I was losing about a lb a month and thought that is what I was stuck with).
Good posts of people losing weight and being excited about it is so awesome.
(plus I know the people in this forum have the ability to keep it off because we aren't dieting)

Ya!!! 10 lbs gone!!! SO glad for you!! It really is an accomplishment making sure you have quality food, enough exercise feed a family AND deal with all the "....YOU eat BACON!!???" comments, kudos!!

My friend popped over this afternoon and she said, "Oh it smells so GOOD in here. BACON!"

I handed her her Mark's book on her way out. Told her I'm not trying to push anything on her, but if she wanted to read it, she could. She was happy to borrow it.
