A happy one! So I couldn't sleep and instead of having to leave MY room to not bother anybody else I came to the bar by my place. It's SXSW all week so there will be live bands here every night. Having a beer and jamming out. :drinker:

Texas as a whole has some obesity issues. Why is Houston fat city? The Dallas area as a whole isn't known for fitness, but the social circles that I tend to hang out in are quite weight healthy.0 -

I don't know how it is now but Houston was known to be one of the fattest cities in the U.S. several years ago (Dallas was on there too as well as El Paso) while Austin has been one of the fittest.0 -
Houston have oppresive heat for a lot of the Summer months. It also gets a good bit of rain in the fall. Add to that the 1000's of restaurants and the fact you have to drive everywhere and you have your answer. Austin gets hot, but not as humid. They have beautiful parks and the lakes and hill country. Plus, Austin is a college town and an tech haven, so it draws a lot of young, active people.
I gained weight because I would go see Bob Schneider (Lonelyland and Ugly Americans) on Monday nights, Lisa Tingle on Tuesday nights, Beth Black on Wednesday nights... Lots of beer, bad food, and fun. My only regrets are that I quit playing competitve sand volleyball (hard to do when your dehydrated and hungover). Once that happened, the weight piled on.0 -
My friends are all in serious relationships- and when we go out to dinner as a group, or arrange something like a party, I am often the only one without a date. That's always awful.
Also when your friends constantly remind you of all the reasons why you are single- and it's never anything positive.
Yes!!! I feel the same way whenever there is a gathering of family or friends, I am always alone too. The worst part is when they ask you why you are still single. It's like that scene from Bridget Jones's Diary.
I'm also reminded about my single status when I need to split or share my meals with someone. Restaurant portions are gigantic!0 -
Holidays,they are geared around family events.

for all my happiness of being single... something happened today that caught me off guard... I have to make a huge decision... and when I got the email, the only person in the world I could even possibly think of discussing it with was my ex husband.
I didn't, of course, but that realization that I could no longer talk to my best friend of almost 20 years really hit me hard.

I know that feeling. It takes a while to get used to not having a long term ex around. But eventually, he won't even enter your head! Either someone new will be the one you turn to, or you just will get used to making your own decisions.

When trying to put lotion on your own back.
I was thinking of that today. I'm going to need to slather sunscreen on my back this weekend and was thinking of how to get good coverage on my back.
Spray sunscreen makes this relatively easy, not as much fun as being slathered by a friend obviously, but you won't get a sunburn.

Here's my list:
- New Years Eve and V-Day
- Always being "odd man out" with my married friends
- Being the only one to go home alone after a group of us have been out drinking and partying together (you know everyone else is going home and having drunk sex with their partner - lol)
- When life is really challenging me, not having someone to lean on / share it with
- When I would love coffee in bed on a weekend morning and don't feel like going downstairs to get it

1) waking up to two couples in my house having loud sex, and my bed is empty. (I have housemates.)
2) When my niece asks me when I'm going to be a mommy
3) After my last break-up, the thing I missed the most was human touch. I have nobody in this town that will even hug me.
4) I have a tattoo I want to put on the back of my shoulder, but I couldn't reach it to take care of it.
5) Moving furniture.
6) Taking pictures of me and my dogs.0 -
-The Holidays (worst ones to be alone on are New Year's Eve & Valentine's)
-Handling all the day to day household maintenance items. Cooking for one is ungratifying as is grocery shopping/meal planning for one.
-Having no one to take care of me when I'm sick

When Im eating a delicious steak meal and I cant finish the meat part cause there is too much and I think to myself... I bet if I had a man, he would stab it and scarf it down and I'd giggle and we'd go home and have wild monkey sex....
