Armour Thyroid

Been on it for a week and I lost 1 1/2 lbs. Nothing has changed except I didn't Exercise as much-and still lost weight.
I find myself waking up before the alarm goes off. That has never happened before. I find myself with more Energy and I am sleeping better. I used to take a Tylenol PM or a Sleeping Pill to sleep all night.
I hope this new medicine(for me) keeps working.

shirlann,
well done on your loss, i too am new to armour just moving into my 5th week, as yet no weight loss for me, but then i have not being making any effort in that area.
I was so low that i think it has taken me this long just to get back to a starting point.
Sleep was one of the first areas to improve for me also, life just seem to be getting better as each week go by.
best wishes

Linda,
Be patient-it will come. It has taken me years to realize that I was overweight and had to do something. Starting with my Thyroid and it was hard to get myself going again. I felt myself in reverse mode a lot of times.
I'm hoping that Armour is my answer.
Take whatever energy you have and just keep moving forward. Don't give up!!!!0 -
I am also currently on armour thyroid. I was on levoxyl prior to that and I felt an extreme difference on armour. I feel more energetic than I ever have in the last 3 years. So much that I am able to run 3 miles a day now and have lost 24 of the 27 lbs I gained since developing hypo.
I sure hope it works out for you as it has for me. Good luck!0 -
This is really eye-opening to me. I was diagnosed with Hashi's after my first pregnancy (2001). Was put on Levothyroxin, I'm at .50mcg now. Didn't do much so the doctor added Cytomel. I was on Cytomel for almost 3 years and experienced extreme bp elevation, heart arrhythmia, insomnia and anxiety which I nor the doctor linked back to the Cytomel ( I separated from my husband and started graduate school the same year, so I thought it was the stress of school, divorce, work). It was only when I accidentally ran out of prescription that I realized all my symptoms went away. Got a new doc this year and the first thing she said was, "get the hell off Cytomel."
Sleeping, and being able to exercise without my heart skipping constantly, has been wonderful. It's such a relief that I don't have to deal with that anymore...I was really worried that I had a cardiac condition separate from the thyroid problem.
However... only having the Levo does NOT work for me. Since January 1, I've been eating about 1200-1350 calories per day, exercising 5 or 6 days a week (running, swimming, and strength training) and have lost 5 pounds. <_< I think I really need the added T3, or nothing much happens.
I'm going to an endocrinologist next week for the first time (took 3 months to get this appointment) so I'm hoping to ask her about Armour and whether I can try it. I'm just worried that it will have the negative effects that Cytomel gave to me (my average BP during this crazy time was 155/115...that's with meds to try to curb it.(( )
