Those pounds that first week were more than likely water weight. If you want advice that could help you you should open your food diary so we can see what you eating, how many carbs, protein etc. Are you in ketosis? Are you trying to get into ketosis? I really can't give you a whole lot of advice without more info. I have been doing low carb for over a month and I love it. I lose about 2 to 3 pounds weekly and that's about the norm. You aren't going to lose 8 pounds every week!0

Hey, don't be discouraged. This is normal- you will lose a lot in the first couple, then probably stall for a week or two, then your body will steady out to a slower loss of 1-3 pounds a week.
I know it's exciting when you drastically lose in the first few weeks but it is most likely water weight, but stick with it and you will see results!0 -
I agree don't stop now it will happen again. Your body adjusts.0

HI
I have lost 20lbs in 7 weeks. It varies from week to week, this week i have lost 1lb last week i lost 5lbs....but every loss counts so dont worry too much.
I have found this way so easy, by far the easiest way to lose weight for me and ive tried endless diets over the years.0 -
I've gone a month before without loosing at all and then you just wake up one morning and you're 5lbs lighter, maybe even more. Most shocking thing that ever happened to me on a low carb diet years ago was not loosing an ounce for 2 months on the scale (clothes kept getting looser though) and then one morning the scale was 10lbs lighter. I had only gone 2 days without weighing myself at that point, so 10lbs in 2 days seems crazy but it can happen.0

Hi. I have been low carb for exactly 3 weeks. I have lost 5 pounds, and the last 2.5 pounds were just this (3rd) week.
It's been slow, but I feel that this is working for me. I do not feel hungry, or have cravings.
The amazing part of this whole change is the loss of massive cravings for wheat, sugar, candy, pastry, etc, etc. are gone.
I am finding that if I eat enough fat & protein this ugly bread craving monster inside of my stomach is squelched.
What I am saying is, stick with it. Otherwise, what is your alternative?0 -
I lost about 18 lbs in the first 3 weeks and for 2 weeks after that - nothing. It was frustrating. Infuriating! I tried to do this and that to get me back to losing and nothing worked.
Then someone told me they had read that lots of people stall in the first few weeks before continuing on to good weight loss. I remembered that when I did Atkins in 2003 the same thing happened to me then.
Once I realized that the early stall was "normal" I just forgot about it. That was like 8 weeks and 18 lbs ago and now weight is "melting" off like they say.
Just keep going forward eating healthy and don't worry about the scale until about week 4 or 5. If you don't see some results by then, then you can start dissecting your habits to see what needs a change.0
