Has anyone else noticed this or am I missing something...

The Woolworths Macro Wholefoods Pasta range advertises significantly less kj per 100g than any other brand of Pasta... The nutrition panel says 747kj per 100gm whereas the SanRemo pasta I also have says 1520kj per 100gm. I've checked and it's the same on all the Macro Wholefoods Pasta's - spaghetti, shells, penne ect

Is there any chance this could be correct or am I just dreaming that there could possibly be a low cal pasta?

is there any difference in the ingrediants?? ie the level of the wheat used?? i wonder if they have mixed the flours together so its not all just durum wheat? im very interested, ill have to go over to woolies and check this out for myself..

i know sunrice vs coles white rice there is a significant difference in KJ rating. check that one out too..

It's based on cooked weight :-)

its usually listed if its a cooked weight. most packet rices and pastas i have found list them as a dry weight.

I can't see any difference in ingredients at all - it only says Durum wheat. I can't see anything mentioning cooked weight but even if it is cooked weight, it's still such a huge difference!

I'd love it to be true but.... :-/

I might check out that Coles rice too :) Just think how good this could be if it IS true!!

I just checked what I have.

Coles long grain white rice is 150gm cooked at 152 cals/635kj. Riviana Arborio is 100gm cooked at 474kj/112cal

I don't have the same pastas, but I have Sam Remo vegeroni stuff. (375gm packet, 3 serves per pack) 125gm of dry is 1897kj/451 cals O.o Conversely, Homebrand macaroni lists a serve as 100gm COOKED (in the fine print), which has 642kj/152cal. This also says there are 12 serves in 500gms, which would mean that a DRY portion is 41gms.

For interests sake, Casalare gluten free lasagne (250 box) lists a serve of 50gm (presumably dry) and 720kj/171cal

I might give up pasta :|
