hello one and all
I just quit smoking 5 days ago. FOR HEALTH, FOR ME, FOR LOVE OF MYSELF.
It's been an easy road this time, just put them down and walked away
But my god the urges to eat,...... everything tastes like nothing I ever ate in my life!!
(and I enjoy food)
So I have had my binge for a few days and now I am reaching out for
encouragement and support with like minded individuals.
Taking off the weight is my next goal, ....slow and steady wins the race.
If anyone relates to this post feel free to message me
Thanks for your time reading my post

Welcome and congrats on 5 (hopefully now 6) smoke free days! We're not a very chatty bunch but welcome anyway!
Try not to beat yourself up too much about your eating. Easier said than done I KNOW! I am trying to practice that myself. I'm three months quit and I think I'm just now getting over the binges.0 -
Congrats! I'm assuming you have several more days under your belt by now - that's awesome! I found the first week was the hardest as far as overeating - after that, I started substituting exercise for eating/smoking, and that helped a lot. The scale didn't move much the first month, even when I was running a caloric deficit - I've read that quitting smoking really messes with your metabolism at first - but after about a month it started moving down again, so it is possible to quit and lose weight. The most important thing to focus on is staying off the cigarettes, but if you try little things to make your lifestyle even healthier, you'll win the weight battle too :-)0

First of.....YOU ARE AWESOME for making the decision to walk away. Own that awesomeness!!! I smoked my last cigarette 1/6/12 at 10PM. I gained back 20 of the 30 lbs I worked so hard to lose before I quit... but now I'm back down 5 and on my way to losing the rest!
It is easy to get hung up on the scale as an overweight woman..but I KNOW in my heart and mind that quitting smoking was the best thing I could do for my health. The wieght will come back off. I tend to get the munchies at night and reach for snacks. I try to hit the gym on weekends or later in evening so I just go home and crash to keep from eating. And I used the extra $ to join the gym and enjoy life a little more. I would NEVER go back to smoking. I had a REALLY ROUGH day yesterday and wanted a cigarette for the first time in 53 days...WTH?!?! So..it does get easier..but the "thought", I wouldnt even say craving" did enter my mind..but quickly left.
YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
Hi. Congrats on being smoke free. I quit on New Year's Day as soon as midnight hit. I tried cold turkey and couldn't do it. My fiance's mom smokes and it's hard being around those that smoke. Not an excuse, I just don't have a lot of will power. I lapsed last week and this week I started the patch again and taking the Nicorette lozenges in between. Hard enough quitting smoking and having to lose weight makes it harder but I'm very determined on making this time.
It's great to have people here who can offer support and I'll do the same.0 -
