Things you should do instead of unnecessary eating

Everyone does it (except maybe if you're starving in a third world country...): eats when they're not hungry. Well, the next time you notice yourself perusing the fridge in boredom, close the door and peruse this list instead:
EXERCISE
WRITE A LETTER TO A FRIEND
READ A GOOD BOOK (and try doing core exercises or something whenever you finish a page or chapter)
GO SHOPPING
CALL A FAMILY MEMBER OR FRIEND TO CATCH UP
PLANT A FLOWER OR OTHER PLANT
MAKE SOMETHING YOU'VE WANTED TO MAKE BUT THINK YOU DON'T HAVE TIME
WRITE IN A JOURNAL
WRITE A STORY
GIVE YOURSELF A FACIAL
STRETCH OR DO YOGA
WATCH A MOVIE AND DRINK WATER

painting your nails is a good one, means also that you really can't use your hands for a bit, and by then the craving for food might have gone0

Oohh, I like the nails idea.
I blew it last night. I was almost 300 calories under.
Put the kids to bed.
Was good for the first 1/2 hour.
then........decided I could have a "few" almonds as a good protein before-bed snack.
Almost a cup later.....OVER calories.
And my nails are bare!
New plan for tonight!!!

"Eat when I'm hungry, don't when I'm not, and eat what I'm hungry for" is something I live by, and it works. It's also the closest thing to a diet I'll do.0

Good news if you were snacking on almonds! According to studies, they actually don't make you gain weight. Read the second to last paragraph of page 193 here:
