(edit: Title: "Weekend", sorry)

I'll start. Did a 10 miler. Have put in just over 200 miles running this year - it paid off.

I was at least 10 pounds lighter than my last 10 miler (Fall of 2010).

I was about 10 minutes faster! Perfect race conditions, just like last time.

Scary story: just before mile 9 I saw a runner standing on the edge of the race route with her hand out. I thought "what a wierd thing to do".
She was blocking traffic around a older gentleman on the ground. His body was convulsing and about three EMTs were working on him. CPR had started and his face was bloody from, I guess, falling straight down. I was honestly in shock.
I didn't feel like running anymore.
There wasn't anything for me to do, he a full staff of officials working on him, so we all kept going

Actually gave me the chills, while running as fast as I could.
I haven't heard anything about him, I hope he is ok.

I was in Rocky Point this weekend for a sprint tri - my first tri in about 2 years - post peroneus tendon rupture/surgery/re-rupture/surgery/unrepairable re-rupture. My re-entry into the tri world was way less spectacular than Lance Armstrong's. LOL.

It was a 400 meter ocean swim, 18 mile bike & 5K. It took me 2:21:51 & 27:xx was the swim. I know where I need help. The run was rough - very hilly - so that wasn't that great either. It was very windy but I was ok with my bike time. This race was simply supposed to be my "starting point". I have a lot to accomplish before IM AZ this year.

    Well done both!

Hope the stricken runner made a full recovery, very scary.

Good job Nancy & Cliff. I really hope that fallen runner has recovered, I wouldn't have felt like running after that either!

I raced the Memorial Hermann Ironman 70.3 in Galveston, TX on April 1st.

The race went fairly well until the run, where I gassed after 4 miles. I hadn't slept well for two nights straight leading up to the race and it showed. I nail all my nutrition through the race but you can only do so much with little sleep.

Final time was a little over 6 hours which is quite unfortunate for me. If the legs would have held I would have been under 5:30. Oh well, two months until the next one! Kansas 70.3!

Fitness level or you just push too hard into that headwind headed out on the bike?

Neither. Felt great both on the swim and bike. The wind didn't bother me too much. I did get a penalty on the bike which cost me about 5 mins. Said I failed to yield after being overtaken. Well I couldn't move over due to me passing someone. It wasn't worth the argument.

Nailed my first 3 miles on the run, then felt like all my energy flew away. My run fitness has been at its highest level in recent weeks.

    Gotta keep pounding away!

    Congrats on finishing!

The run sounds like it was frustrating a bit; maybe first race of the year symptom?

I have my first tri next weekend; I am cautiously optimistic because usually the first event of the year can make me feel super odd at some point (HR, perceived effort, nausea, funny sensations in muscles, etc.)

    Half Iron is no joke!

You're like the 5th or 6th person I know who got flagged on the bike.

I would LOVE to be that fast. My husband & son-in-law did that race 2 years ago. I hope to do it next year with my sister!

GREAT JOB, even though it wasn't what you aspired to!

I swear the bike judge was on a power trip. I only was passed by 6 people while on the bike. It's not like I was dragging out there. Ridiculous.
