Wrist/forearm guard

I made my own wrist/forearm guard since none of the sports stores I've checked in my area carry them. I may end up ordering a pair online but thought I'd see what I could come up with myself first. I made them out of a pair of socks and duct tape. They seem to work fine so far. I can post a picture or two if anyone is interested.

I use two wristbands on top of each other for my left hand - my right seems to be ok.

I'd be interested to see what you made. Every once in a while I'll have a bad day and leave myself bruised.

I've tried several different manufactured ones.

    1) No Fear Fitness Forearm Guards at http://www.nofearfitness.com/products/forearmguards.php
I liked these a lot and used them for a couple of years before I had problems with the velcro closures. A fairly solid forearm guard.

    2) VF KettleShields Heavy Duty, (Valery Federenko), at http://store.worldkettlebellclub.com/products/VF-KettleShields-Heavy-Duty.html
No velcro closure here. They slip over your hand. It's thick on the side that faces your forearm and there's some kind of plastic piece sewn into it that absorbs the impact of the bell. I like these ones for heavy cleans.

    3) Kettleguard at http://www.kettleguard.com/
My favorite one so far. Thinner in thickness than the other two but absorbs the shock from snatches and cleans smoothly. It's a bit pricey at 25 bucks but I've been using it for the better part of a year and after you pop it in the washing machine it's like new.

I know that some people like to use ace bandage wraps and such but for me it's too time consuming. The ease of use and the utility of the product were worth the cost IMO.

Here's a pic of my (temporary) homemade forearm guard.

I just cut off the top part of a calf sock and cut about an inch or so off the toe. Took 2 strips of duct tape long enough to fold over on itself several times to make a couple of thick pieces just wide enough to cover my forearm. Laid them across the sock and wrapped more duct tape around the whole thing (did this with the sock already on my wrist so I'd make sure I didn't make it so tight I couldn't get it on and off). I know my description may not make a lot of sense without step by step pictures. I wish I'd thought to take some. It may not be as hard or sturdy as a real guard but my wrists have thanked me since I've been using them lol.
Edit* sorry, I thought I knew how to post the actual image but I guess I don't. I'll try to get it right a bit later.

I bought some football pad things.
They look a bit like shin guards.

Eventually going to buy some real protection but money is just too tight right now. The closest thing I could find that would work was at ****'s Sporting Goods and was almost $30 for ONE piece! I'll probably end up ordering something online.

Wow, really?! That name was censored out? Funny lol!
