Hubby's Baking

I live with (and love desperately) a man who LOVES to bake. He understands that I have embarked on a fairly restrictive diet (although, he doesn't understand why - I guess men just don't get the whole swimsuit thing). I am having a hard time staying away from it all, and over the weekend I had a handful of cookies and a blueberry muffin. What annoys me is that I'm feeling guilty about the diet, and I'm eating these things to make him feel better, I guess? It makes me feel like a failure. How do I make myself happy, and help him understand that I still love his stuff, I just don't want to eat it?

    Hi

I had the same kind of thing with my husband who kept trying to get me to eat and drink things and when I didn't accused me of having an eating disorder :( I had to explain to him that this was important to me because I felt so much better being thinner. For me it was effecting my self confidence being over weight so I needed to do something about it. I also tried to explain that I easily put on weight and it wasn't just a case of cutting out a few things (like it is for him). It's also only temporary. So I persevered and am now at my goal weight :) He's happy I am eating more but its always a bit of a battle with him especially over wine! Good luck and keep going. There are plenty of people on the boards who will support you even if he doesn't! Maybe suggest to him he takes his baked goods into work instead?

Oh, believe me...we both supply our workplaces with plenty of confections! Hahaha! I am guilty, too. Our son is turning 2 in 6 weeks, and I've been practicing with cupcakes. I think he's trying to out-bake me ;)
In any case, thanks for the shared experience. I will keep on keepin' on!

Be vigilant! With my hubby, it's a glass of wine at the end of the day. A month in, i have indulged in a wine spritzer now and then. As for baking, it's not like you don't know what his fabulous baking tastes like, tell him to start working on a fabulous confection that you can reward yourself with when you get to goal and can have a celebration meal!
