Hi I'm Ashley. I'm 27, married, with 1 child and 2 step-children and hope to have another on the way within the next year. I live in MA but prefer warmer climets, especially because I like being outdoors (hiking, swimming, riding horses, etc). I work full time and am very busy, but still manage to get to the gym 5 times a week (before anyone wakes up!). I'm newer to the church and still struggle with applying the word of wisdom in my life, especially when I'm tired or stressed. I hope this group will be a reminder to me to try hard everyday. Whats your family like in general or towards your diet? Everyone is very supportive they eat what I eat or they fend for themselves.
What makes you splurge on your diet and what do you reach for? being in pain and emotions. I have battled depression since forever I think and none of the drugs work to help but now I use food as a medicine and control my depression that way by controlling my blood sugars. I am not diabetic but as long as I control the swings I have NO CRAVINGS! It is AWESOME!

Do you have a testimony you would like to share? I do I have just recently started reading my scriptures due to a challenge in a weight loss group and it has changed my life to feel of the Spirit so often is wonderful and the knowledge that comes with it truly enlightens your life in every area. I am getting better at sharing my testimony lately because I really feel the truth of the Gospel and the effects it has in my life everyday.0 -

Everyone is crazily supportive why I have health problems so if I want a baby in the future I need to lose weight.... my husband tries to do it but he's having a hard time with eating less carbs and he likes his pop which I can't get him to quit.....
What makes you splurge on your diet and what do you reach for? frustration i usually went for chocolate i didn't care as long as it was chocolate..... but the last three weeks I've only had one day i needed a treat and I just went for a spoonful of peanut butter

What's your favorite film? This is a really hard one to nail down. I don't really have a single "Favorite". However, a couple of my favorites are: Lord of the Rings, Dune/Children of Dune (The SciFi Channel miniseries--though I do love the David Lynch version from the 80s), Young Frankenstein, the Star Trek movies and the recent Marvel Movies have all been excellent.
What's your job? I have my Bachelor's in Digital Entertainment and Game Design and I am currently pursuing my Master's in Information Systems as well as having done Graphic Design for what seems like forever.

Whats your family like in general or towards your diet? DW and I are in this together. The rest of my family is a bit perplexed by the changes in our diet and exercise, but generally supportive.
What makes you splurge on your diet and what do you reach for? Since we are not really doing a "diet", we don't really splurge, per se. We have been making the shift to be more vegetarian than anything else, so if I had to nail down a treat that we use, it would be going to Zupa's and not having to cook. We just bought a dehydrator yesterday and I plan to make some yummy dried fruit for our treats as well.
Do you have a calling? Nope, oddly enough, I don't even have home teaching families--not for lack of asking, though.

Do you have a testimony you would like to share? I have had such a bumpy life and can testify that Heavenly Father's plan is there for a reason. It seems that I am more and more aware of the plan of salvation and I try to keep it in mind and have an eternal perspective. Jesus Christ is central to that plan. I can never express my gratitude to my Savior with adequate words.
