Week 3 Day 1

Finished day 1 week 3 this morning with my 12 year old son. Have to say I was doubting my abilities and have been really nervous to start week 3, even considered repeating week 2, BUT I really wanted to try and see if I could do it. I was so surprised that I did the 3 minute interval and felt great and then we did another one! I'm hoping I feel the same way when I hit the 5 minute intervals next week! I still see it as near impossible that I may be running/jogging a 5k straight through this summer, but I'm gonna follow the plan and see how far I can go. I'd like to sign my son and I up for a 5k near our completion date. (with no repeats it will be June 2)

I'm on week 3 too... and I agree I was nervous with the 3 min.... next week kinda scares me... but we can do it!!!0

Same thing for me, only with week 2. I really contemplated repeating week 1, I thought if this kicked my tail I cannot go on. Week 2 isnt any worse either. It was very pleasantly surprising! I should finish about June 6th.0

i was going to repeat a day of week 2 tomorrow but i think i'm actually just going to go for it with week 3 now. w2d3 went really well but days 1&2 were abysmal. can't hurt to try i suppose? i really want to keep progressing but the hard days really knocked my confidence and i dont want that again. meh, i can always go back to wk 2 for a couple of days if i really can't hack it.0

Hi Folks! I am about to embark on W4D2 today. Ahh!
I was sooo nervous to start week 4, but I managed to do it! Not gonna lie, I sat on the ground right after I got off the treadmill and contemplated never running again.
But you have to keep at it and remember why you are doing this!
Anyone can add me if they would like, always looking for C25K buddies0 -
I'm signed up for a 5k on 6/2 also!
How wonderful that you found a running partner in your son Sounds like a great way to bond.
Enjoy and happy running!0 -
I'm right were you are, yesterday was w3d1 for me and I was scared that I would fly off the treadmill, but that didn't happen, and it wasn't easy but I made it! I signed up to do a mud run for the end of June, so I have to keep pushing myself. I think it would be great for you to have a goal run with your son.
take care!

thanks for the support! Today was day 2 of week 3 and it was definitely not easier than d1w3, and I am very scared of next week's 3, 5, 3, 5!!! but we will go for it and not let our minds tell our bodies what we can do! anyone can add me if you like. it's nice to have some c25k buddies out there!0

i did it! the last 30 seconds of the 2nd 3min run was a push but otherwise it was easier than i'd expected. feel bouncy and happy now. i couldnt do that 2 weeks ago! i really forced myself to go (even) slower than normal which i think helped. confidence in the programme restored. i now think it vaguely possible i could be doing 20 minutes in a couple of weeks :noway:0

tiffany I can also see 20 minutes being vaguely possible. I have to admit that I'm scared of next weeks 5 minutes! I'll probably be scared every week, but it's such a rush to actually see yourself do something you didn't see possible. tomorrow is my day 3 week 3. I'm continuing to search for 5k's in my area in June. Haven't decided on one yet, and I have to juggle father's day, hubby's bday and son's bday that month!0

yes i'm scared of the 5mins too. but i was scared of the 3 minutes too. am clinging on to that! think i've found a race for 1st july, give myself a bit of time to repeat weeks later on. nervous!0
