How do you stop feeling hungry all the time?

Hi everyone,
This is my first post so please be gentle with me.
I suffer from feeling hungry all time. I short time after I have a meal, I feel like I want to eat another meal!
Does anyone else have this problem?
I try drinking water all the time but then I need to pee all the time.
Does anyone have anything they can recommend?

I have 3 or 4 small snacks a day in addition to my meals and, with the exception of breakfast, I typically eat smaller meals as well so my food is more evenly distributed throughout the day.
If you are just starting it may be that your body is still adjusting to your change in eating habits, and keep in mind a lot of it is habit. I often find myself munching a snack at 10 more because I always have a snack at 10 than because I'm really hungry. But my body always says it time to eat regardless of how I'm feeling!
If you are truly hungry, could it be that you are not eating enough calories?0 -
I peeked at your diary, and it seems you are only 2-3 days in - the hunger will subside! It looks like you drink plenty of water, so that's good!
I pre-plan to have snacks at 10am and 3pm. Even if I'm not that hungry, it wards off the RAVENOUS feeling later. I tend to have a light breakfast and AM snack, mid size lunch, then heavier PM snack and dinner, since I seem to be hungrier later in the day. Perhaps figure out if there is a pattern to your hunger and plan calories around that?
Greek yogurts as my PM snack is very satisfying! I have that and a baggie of raw veggies for volume. In the morning I can get away with just a piece of fruit.
Also, try not to drink too many calories - lattes and such.

- Snacks are a key like the ladies said.
- I also find lot's of fruits and veggies to be important to keeping me feeling full.
- Have you been exercising? If so, I highly recommend exercising and then eating back most of those calories. I haven't been feeling very hungry at all plus being allowed to earn treats for myself has made a huge difference in my mental approach to the program.
- Are you willing to share your total daily calories?
Here's why... My Fitness Pal seems to be good at a lot of things but is maybe a little week at getting heavier people enough calories early on. So a plan like Weight Watchers uses a formula based on your gender, your age, your job, and your current weight. So I (30 yo, f, 220lbs) had a points allotment of 34 daily + 49 points to use anytime. My best guess here is that a point translates roughly to 45 calories or about 1530 calories a day + other flexible calories. So overall it would average to 1845 or so daily calories I could use. My husband (33, m, 210lbs) had a point allotment of 45 points daily and 49 points to use through out the week. So his calories looked more like 2340 even though he weighed less than me. I, also had a friend (f, 32, 290) who ended up with the exact caloric match as my husband so a daily average of 2340. Now on WW as you lose weight (about every 10bs) you lose one of those points, so it tracks along with you as you get thinner and need less.
All of this math is to say that when these people converted over to My Fitness Pal these it never recommended anything close to these old numbers. My female friend told it she wanted to lose 2lbs a week and the MFP calculator told her she should eat 1200 calories a day!!! Clearly she can eat double that and still lose weight (and sometimes quite a bit more than 2lbs).
So make sure that My Fitness Pal has set reasonable food goals for you! If you are starving, that is one of the signs that something might be amiss. You can always try to come up with a reasonable goal and manually reset your calorie goal.

Almonds, soy nuts, Greek yogurt - anything with higher protein helps you feel full longer (me anyway). If I eat an apple for a snack, I feel more hungry sooner. :ohwell:
If I do a high protein breakfast I stay satisfied almost until lunch, and I do the snack pretty much like Debbie (shorty). Plan the whole day, basically 5-6 small "meals".0 -
Here's a trick i use although it's part trick part science. Your brain takes about 20 minutes to register you're full. So when i eat a meal i then occupy myself straight away for the next 20 mins to half an hour. i usually wash up and then take a bath or fold laundry. Anything to keep my hands busy. Once i'm done i don't feel hungry anymore.0

If you feel like your eating a ton and still not satisfied, try protein powder. That might help.0

It probably means you need to eat more. More protein. Change your settings to 40 % carbs, 30% fat, 30% protein. Men need at least 1800 cals a day. THere's no need to be so restrictive. You can lose weight eating more. If you're interested, check out the group "Eat more to weigh less". Good luck!0
