Wow - just finished the 28 minute run and I felt pretty good - I even kept running and made it to 30 minutes and 5.25Kms. Can't believe a few short weeks ago I could barely run for 30 seconds straight. Goes to show what you can achieve when you stick with it and push yourself!

Now to push myself even further!

How is everybody else tracking?

Not too bad! I'm three weeks behind you. :) Really enjoying this - I've had no difficulties with this program at all.

At my current pace, I'm not sure that I'll be doing 5k in 30 minutes. I think I averaged 11 mins 40 secs a mile this morning. Assuming I maintain that pace, it will take me about 36 minutes to run 5k. So, when I reach the end of week 9, I'm curious to see if I'll actually be running 5k.

Feeling pretty good. Week 6, Day 1 here. I ddin't exactly sail through it, but it wasn't awful either. So close to the "Graduation" I can taste it :)
But then, there's the question of which training program to embark on next...
Good luck all with your runs this week!

    Good work everyone!

I have days when I can't seem to run 1km without wanting to stop. Not sure why some days are good and some are bad??

I seem to find it more difficult if I stray off my usual course and try something different. It may be in my head??

Do you always run the same course?

Changing your course may be part of it. Perhaps your mind doesn't wander and you can't lose track of time?

What other variables are there? Sleep? Diet? Stress? Monthly cycle?

I started week 1 yesterday and it was horrible. I had to sit down a while because I thought I was going to faint. Hopefully I can get through w1d2 without taking breaks tomorrow though. :)

I know what you mean about good days and bad days. I have found that sometimes after mile 1, I just really want to stop and feel exhausted. Last night I did Week 4, Day 1 and the first 5 minute interval was murder!! But the 2nd not so bad! I am doing this on the treadmill now, so my course never changes. I need to get myself outside soon.
Way to go! I can't wait to get to week 8.

You can do it. I was exactly the same when i started. Thats why I'm amazed I can now run for 35 minutes straight! Just take your time - its not a race! Repeat days or weeks if you need to!

True - so many variables. I guess some days are just better than others. Pretty proud of myself yesterday tho. I ran for 35 minutes straight (6kms) on a different course and didn't stop. I really wanted to at some points, but I just kept telling myself it was in my head and my body was more than capable. Seemed to work - I think I probably could have kept going but I was too close to home LOL :)

Yes, be encouraged! I think all of us thought that we wouldn't be able to get to the weeks that we are on when we first started also! It will get better. Our bodies are wonderfully made and designed to work when we ask them to. You can do it. Stick with it and you will be amazed at how much endurance you develop! Let us know how the next couple of runs go.

    That's fantastic!

I've been running longer, too, and I know that just thinking about how long something is can make me feel more tired.

Anyway, I've been running longer and longer. Yesterday, I was supposed to be doing week 6 day 2, but I just went ahead and did 22 minutes (w6d3).... then kept running. I ran for 31 minutes!

    It wasn't 5k, though. More like 4.5k.

Still, I feel really happy about it. I think I'll keep doing this - setting my app for 25 mins or whatever as a minimum, then seeing how far I can push myself past that. I don't want to go back to the running/walking intervals. Is there any reason why I should?

Great work on the 31 minutes.

I was the same - not wanting to go back to intervals - and to be honest I haven't actually used the c25k app since I ran the 25 minutes straight (W7 i think??). I've been using Endomondo to track distance and split times etc.

I can't see a real problem in pushing past the apps time limits .... thats the whole idea of the program isn't it?? Essentially if you've run 31 minutes straight then you've completed c25k :flowerforyou: now you can maybe concentrate on increasing your speed??

I had a little victory on my run this morning. There is a hill on one of the courses I run - I always go a different way to avoid it  The first time I tried to run back up it I almost died and had to stop and walk. Today I conquered it. I ran the whole way up it without stopping!

Its amazing the little goals we set for ourselves and how happy they make you when you reach them!

    That really is fantastic!

I alternate hill climbing with running (weather allowing) and when I started out, I'd climb this hill over the road from my house. The first time I climbed it, I had to stop a LOT to admire the view and gasp for breath. But, I got faster and faster at doing it and now only stop a few brief times to take a breath.

Yeah, day 3 of week 7 is when you run 25 minutes. That's what I skipped ahead to this morning, and then kept running. Ended up running 36 minutes for 5.4k!

Great work!! 5.4k in 36 minutes is great! I keep looking on Endomondo to find routes to extend my run :noway: Sometimes I think I may be getting ahead of myself. I'm having a rest day today but will back into tomorrow morning with the aim of running 7km!!

I'm hopefully doing Week 8 Day 1 tonight:bigsmile: I never thought I'd be doing this! I love it, running so addictive! Congrats to you for doing 5.25k! I haven't hit that, but it's only a matter of time!

I just did week 6 day 2 yesterday.. nervous about losing my walking intervals! But excited that I'm progressing so well :) I'm surprised at how quickly I'm going through it - I thought I would have to repeat way more weeks than I've had to so far.

It will get better. W1 D1 was the worst for me so far-- I'm starting week 5 probably tonight or tomorrow. When I finished W1 D1, I was gasping like I was dying, my sides hurt, I believe I didn't even finish, I just stopped after the final jog.

Now I finish my jogs (most recent ones were 5 minutes alternating with 3 minutes, twice. I still sweat like a pig (lol) and sure there's times when I feel like I'm out of breath, and my legs want to quit on me... but I'm doing it, and it feels great!
