Your Best Fat Burning Tips

Hi Gals (and guys!)

Would love to hear about your best fat burning tips to get those last couple lbs of fat off close to competition. I'm about 18 days out from the Nicole Wilkins/Kim Oddo competition seminar and while I'm not trying to be "stage ready" I want to at least be off-season presentable. You can see from my profile pic that I'm not TOO far off - but this is the first time I've done a true "cut" and I want to make a good impression.

So far I've gotten this far with weights alone and eating clean. The past two weeks I've incorporated AM cardio and PM cardio after my workout on my non-leg days. Both steady state for 30-35 min at ~80% of my max HR. AM is not fasted.

So what do you guys suggest? Longer SS fasted AM cardio? HIIT? Active rests? Something else?

Thanks!

My trainer suggests morning cardio with nothing in your system. not even water. He says it will burn more fat. One of my friends that is a former competitor agrees and says she burned so much more fat when she ran in the AM before any food enters the body.

This has been suggested to me from a couple different sources - but I've also read that fasted cardio can lead to muscle loss, which I'm trying to avoid. Right now I've been doing fed AM cardio (protein shake + oats + spinach) but maybe I'll try fasted and see how that works.

Any suggestions on time? Is the 30-35 min I'm currently doing enough or should I up that?

it is scientifically proven that you burn more body fat at lower heart rates than at higher.

Also, a high fat and high protein diet makes it easier to shed than a low fat one which will rob the body of efas and promote muscle destroying insulin responses due to the higher glycemic index (stanford studies)

Long, slow walks on the treadmill ensure no muscle loss and only fat loss, especially in the AM. Heart rate monitors are a must.

cut out all fruit, complex carbs in your diet and water load before seminar for about 3 days. You should already be doing HiiT regualarly anyway, right? Adding the cardio was smart too.
