Soy, Yes or No?

I have been reading and most things say no soy products. No soy milk, no soy beans, no soy sauce - but I am finding recipes in Paleo cookbooks that call for soy sauce. So can you have soy or not?

no soy....on a strict paleo it is a no-no because it is made from a legume and most typically involve some sort of wheat in the ingrediates....plus it is usually loaded with sodium - and well soy in general (especially GMO soy) - ick

I am surprised you are finding soy sauce as an ingrediate in Paleo cookbooks...

Same goes for things like Braggs Aminos - still made with soy.

A great alternative is Coconut Aminos...taste is very similar to soy sauce. http://coconutsecret.com/aminos2.html - this is what I use - I used their store locator to find that the Vitamin Shoppe carried it (I did call before I went to make sure they had it in stock).

I use it for stir frys to add flavor and my husband uses in place of soy sauce for his venison jerkey so it can be Paleo jerky...

Soy is off limits. Use coconut aminos instead of soy sauce.

I say NO. I'm dealing with hypothyroid, so don't want to risk it. Plus, I think so many soy products are not prepared in the right way (fermented-wise) and are GMO. I use coconut aminos.

I've been using coconut aminos in my crockpot and the meat is amazing!
