So, yesterday after work I got a manicure, and after telling the woman about my neck she gave me a short chair massage afterwards. This morning, between that and coughing my lungs out from the cold (thanks, DH!) I am SUPER sore today, the worst it's been. I'll see how it's feeling tomorrow, but I may take off exercise tomorrow completely. NOT GOOD!
One more 0.5 lb to get back down to last week's weight for weigh in tomorrow. I think it can happen, but so annoyed that I spiked up 2.5 to begin with this weekend! I will just need to be more careful this weekend, particularly with sodium.
I saw pictures from the race this Saturday, I didn't realize how WIDE I have gotten in the hips. :frown: I hope things start to tighten up soon! I've already lost 2 inches in the hips, so I'd hate to think what I looked like before.
Oh, and the weather man lied today.:ohwell:0 -
morning, loverlies! i am still out of commission with my foot. yowza, it hurts! it's getting better for sure, but i still can't run around on it. i know i should be doing arm weights or something in the meantime, but i'm such a calorie snob that i don't want to lift for 30 minutes for a 57 calorie burn. so there.
i hope you all have a wonderful friday eve!
@shorty - what was the time on your race? i must have missed it - well done!0 -
Stacy- 37:26, which is almost exactly a 12 min/mile. Slower than I'd hoped, but I'm really proud of it.
2.5 years ago, while I was 7 months pg with my son, I caught a virus that attacked my spinal cord and left me mostly paralyzed from the waist down. I won't bore you with the details, but there were a few hours there I wasn't even sure I would make it, and my hubby would be left with a toddler and preemie. I was in the hospital for a month, gave birth 4 days after discharge (he was healthy THANK GOD) and spent about a year in therapy to walk and such again. I still have problems with balance and I have no leg reflexes, but for the most part I'm back to normal, a miracle in and of itself since only a third of people "fully recover" like me. I started running in December to prove to myself my body wasn't broken anymore0 -

You are fabulous! The rest of us are making excuses, you really have been to hell and back. I have no leg reflexes (no reflexes at all, actually) due to a chromasomal abnormality, but I've always been this way - it only causes problems for the student doctors at the hospitalYou should be proud of your achievements (big and small) because others in your position might easily have given up. Well done!!

Wow that's pretty amazing and puts a lot of things into perspective. You have clearly had your battles and have had to work so hard for your victories. Keep it up :-).
Had a busy day today at work. Had an extra guy working with us on a trial basis. He's a little slow but seems pretty easy to get along with. Graded through 2 and a half tonnes of fish today and adding to that a busy morning i'm pretty shattered. No gym tonight for me. I'm going to try out some new couscous recipes and exercise my cooking muscles. It's been a while and as my baking hobby was possibly a cause of my weight problems it'll be a fun experiment. Have a good day guys and gals :-).0 -
I feeling THIRTY SOMETHING TODAY! I don't want to do anything! :ohwell:0

well, I think my key card for clubhouse is officially lost. It was deactivated today by the office so that no one else can use it to get in. I'm going to have to pay $25 to replace it! blah! that sucks, oh well, guess I will have to be more careful with it! I was really hoping the cat hid it from me, oh well. I will pick up my new one tomorrow, since the office will be closed by the time I get home tonight and I didn't have time to go in this morning...sooo NOT a morning person! ran late AGAIN today!
Packed lunch today, so I am doing A LOT better today with eating! I will be going grocery shopping after work tonight. Since I can't work out in clubhouse tonight, depedning on how late I get back from shopping, I'm thinking a walk around the apt complex...we shall see! If not, I can always break out my Jillian Michael's torture, I mean, work out video.
Great job, Shorty on the race!! That is awesome!
Random thought- I am really loving the Giant Eagle Valu Time Rice Cakes! I need to buy more tonight! Debating on whether or not to put off buying a new microwave longer...hmmm...,my old one bit it.
Have a great day all!0 -
Hi Everyone! I am having a hard week but still checking in and logging.
Debbie you are amazing! What a great attitude so many people would just give up and use it as an excuse to stay sedentary. Good for you!
Paul -- your job sounds crazy I imagine you standing in a river throwing fish around... It is pretty cool that you like to cook my husband just started taking an interest earlier in the year to be more of a help around the house (after 6 years of marriage-- but hey better late than never!) It is so great to have the help! Your cooking skills will be a blessing for your upcoming marriage. AND it is fun to find tasty healthy things to make!
Hope everyone is having a great Thursday!0 -
Thanks for the kudos every body. I did wallow in a bit of self pity for about a year, and then realized how INCREDIBLY lucky I had been to recover, have wonderful support from my family, and access to health ins that made all the hospital/therapy visits possible, and I couldn't waste that. I eventually want to be stronger/fitter than I was before it all happened. Good thing I'm stubborn
Paul - you must get a crazy number of calories because of how physical your job is!
Melissa - you are almost through the week!
Jill - that sucks on the card, but at least you aren't letting it get in the way of a workout! How much did you use your micro? I really only use mine to steam certain veggies, or heating leftovers. I can go days or weeks without using it.0 -

Lol, that's actually pretty close to what my day to day is.
I love cooking, it kind of appeals to the way my brain works i think. The whole you take x amounts of this and x amounts of that and prepare it in a certain way and you can create something. I love making my own sushi. I've been doing it since Xmas when my fiance bought everything i'd need. I pour over the books and watch videos on youtube and i try and everytime i almost get it right. Then i read about guys in japan who have been making sushi for 70 years and feel the same way! As i said i used to like baking and became famous for my triple chocolate cookies (my fiance mourns the day i started on my heathy lifestyle). Since i started said healthy lifestyle i've found new levels of energy and now i like to clean more and take care of those DIY jobs around the house. I hope that bodes well for my marriage but i think having a partner who i can just share space with and will agree to do stupid things because "it's just funny" will trump my cooking skills0 -
Shorty, I used to use it a lot, but haven't missed it too much lately. So, I am thinking I can maybe just wait on it...If I want to make chicken, I'll have to just sit it out to thaw out earlier or cook it longer, I guess.
Tonight, I am having Sangria and chips and salsa since I have to work ALL day on Cinco de Mayo! Anyone doing anything fun for Cinco de Mayo?
Gotta go look for something to do! This day is DRAGGING!0 -
Paul - you must get a crazy number of calories because of how physical your job is!
Well i certainly hope so. It can be a very physical job some times and even on the quieter days i'm feeding fish which means throwing a 25 kg bag of feed onto my shoulder and carrying it to the ponds. Plus there the obvious cycling to get to work in the first place. I do sometimes refer to my days as one long work out. Trouble is MFP doesn't have netting fish on it's list of exercises.0 -
This is what I assume Paul's job is like.

Debbie: You are in inspiration. :-)
CurlyPep: Is feeling thirty something good or bad?
Jill: Do you use your microwave a lot? No plans for Cinco de Mayo yet. I do love margarita's though... Need to figure that out!
Melissa: Good work on sticking with it through a hard week!
I can't complain about today.
The gain I saw on Monday went away and left me with a bitty loss. Which I will take since it let me see a new multiple of 5 I haven't seen in awhile. It has been slow going think I have lost 4 or 5 pounds since starting here, but in fairness I took almost two solid weeks off. I am considering upping my calories because I have been seeing better results on weeks when I go over my allotted calories. I might set it to lose .5 lbs a week and see how that works.
I, also, spent all day taking a friend around town for some pampering for her birthday. Nails and massages. Yeah, life is hard.
Off to a birthday dinner now!
Cheers,
Sara Grace0 -
I decided to wait on the microwave. I am sitting and relaxing with Sangria and had some chips & salsa...yep, still under my calories! Barely, drank water today, gotta get cracking on that! oops!
Have a good night everyone!0 -

Normally its a good feeling but these half grown teenagers are working my nerves today. One is a junior in high school (got parent teacher conference tomorrow cause she can't stop running her mouth) and one is a freshman in college (just paid a $242 ticket because the state of Mississippi is robbing people with a gun).0 -

LOL! Yes that too isn't far off just wish extra paperwork and dealing with people who claim to be grown ups but act like 5 year olds on speed!0 -
