Too desperate or sweet?

Would texting a man today for a first real date on Saturday saying that you are looking forward to it sound sweet or desperate (coming on too strong)? We met last Thursday and went out for coffee on Sun- talked all weekend but didn't correspond as much this week.

I know I over-think everything, but just curious if this kind of text is too early....

Just looking for others opinions! Thanks!

I'd say it's fine. But it seems as if I have no clue how to do things right so we better wait for some more responses.

I think maybe text him tomorrow - "looking forward to seeing you tomorrow" just sounds a bit more casual somehow - but I'd be interested to see the guys' takes on this, I love seeing their perspectives!

yep! I mostly say something that before a date. That's because I AM (looking forward to it). Or I might say 'really excited to be seeing you again'.

Why hold back? Life is too short! :flowerforyou:

No don't do it. Yes, it is sweet, but the date is confirmed - your next obligation is to show up. You can text earlier in the evening on Saturday - but don't say "are we still on" - ask where you should park or meet him or something along those lines.

I guarantee he is going crazy wondering "why hasn't she texted me yet?"

I'll also put money that he will text you - but if he doesn't, don't worry. The date is where you'll make your impression. Also, you don't wanna run outta stuff to talk about BEFORE the date.

Personally it would make my day but can`t guess how someone else will look at it.
Gut feeling is more are likely to feel as I would then to view it negatively.

I'd text him tomorrow, as said, something about "see you tomorrow or something"...

I know- there is a big age gap between us 13 years so I am questioning more but since we met Thursday, we have talked everyday except Tuesday- so I think he is interested but who knows!

    I agree life is short!

Screw it... I am doing it, if it doesn't work for him then back to my okcupid inbox....

Ask him how his week or day has been since you haven't had much contact this week.

Speaking personally, I don't need a girl that's already agreed to go out with me to tell me she's looking forward to it - that's a no brainer; otherwise she wouldn't have said yes (or given me her number).

The beginning stages are critical so you do have to be smart. I know people hate hearing this, but there is a subtle cat-and-mouse game that has to be played.

Also, he is the man - let him chase you ;)

There is nothing wrong with sending him a text letting him know that you look forward to this weekend.

I hate this BS cat n mouse game playing........just sayin! :flowerforyou:

So, what would your actual reaction be if you got a text like that?? Would you be thorougly disappointed?? Give up the chase?? Cancel the date?? Or just reply with a "me too"?? Orrrrrr ????

its kinda funny cos I'm beginning to matchmake peeps on here just from reading their posts/opinions..... you and jq would make an awesome couple  You have your defined roles in a man and woman and dont deviate. No wonder Carl is confused!!

I got back a "me too:)" So I think it was well received ??? We did have to hammer out some finals details to like time and where we are meeting.

I have played the cat and mouse game and was extremely successful in college but now it hasn't been working for me and I'm tired of playing games. He still pursues me more but I want to be myself not playing games all the time.

No he is 39 and I'm 26. I usually stick with guys around my age but I am open to try something new.

I will! I have to go shopping tonight since it has turned from more of a causal thing to a real date- so I am going to get all dolled up and knock his socks off- well that's the plan at least! He did tell me last night that he is feeling pretty lucky that he is going out with me on Saturday.

Update on the date- I bought a new dress and wore it- he showed up at my door and told me- "wow you look amazing". We went to a Mexican restaurant for cinco de mayo and it was not busy which said a lot about this new restaurant. The food was blah, service was horrible and they had a singer so loud you could barely talk. Then we went to a wine bar (my suggestion) which was a much better place to talk and we followed up going to a movie - the hunger games where he fell asleep during part of it and after the movie he told me he saw it before. He picked the movie but it kinda felt weird that it was his second time seeing it.

He is very much a gentleman, opening doors, paying for everything and walking to the door where we did kiss:).

He texted me when he got home apologizing for the restaurant and that he had a good time and that I looked great.

The date didnt go perfectly but I really enjoy talking to him and hope to get together again- we will see what happens.

That is good news. I saw some things that could have easily submarined a date and turned this into one and done. I think that speaks well of you.

Where did you two meet for the first time? The meet at your door prior to the first date thing isn't done too frequently early on these days.

    Best wishes!

If more women approached things this way, they'd be much happier and have a better dating life. Text when you want, be flexible, have fun, be yourself, don't play games. Good on you!

Thank you- I admit I had a higher expectations going into the date so I was a little disappointed but I do like to keep an open mind. The date didn't go perfectly (even the sleeping- but I fallen asleep during movies not on a date tho) but I think he is a great guy.

We met at a meet up happy hour event for a new group I joined.

He wanted to pick me up at my house and I felt comfortable enough to do that.
