I'm not diabetic, but if I eat too much sugar it brings on hot flashes and/or night sweats

What is your carb intake like and where do you get them from? Rice, potatoes, pasta and wheat based carbs all make your blood sugar level spike.

Try taking 1/2 tsp cinnamon a day (sprinkled on your food or as a tea) as it helps regulate how your body processes the carbs into sugar.

i do sprinkle the cinnamon on my oatmeal for breakfast, i try to stay away from white bread, just 100% whole wheat with no corn syrup, no starch veggies, i am in denial about being a diabetic, at first it was borderline, took the meds lost some weight, dr said my numbers are good, then went about my way and put the weight back on, started terrible hot flashes, trigycerides went up, hbp went up, cholestrol etc...., so i put my big girl pants on and stopped smoking, 6 months today, i had smoked for 5 years, before, stopped for 10 years, had smoked off and on for 10 before that, started fish oil and got my triglycerides down, my blood pressure is down, now the weight which is like a yo-yo, trying to find the right fit of excerise and food with the hot flashes and diabetes, it is like a wall, just cant pop a pill, it is mixture of working out and cutting out all the carbs, just trying to figure it out and not get frustrated and quit,
i like the app on the phone with the barcode, makes so easy to keep track, i also sprinkle ground flaxweed for the triglucerides on my oatmeal

All wheat spikes your blood sugar levels, even wholewheat. Try limiting the amount you eat at any one time.

I avoid carbs in the evenings to help stop the night sweats.... although evenings is my favourite time to have a piece of chocolate!!

Don't limit WHAT you eat, just HOW MUCH you eat. That might help you maintain your weight better as it just comes down to portion control.

    Hope that helps
